Science Council?
The college's student-led Science Council is currently recruiting members for the 2022-23 academic year. Members work with the Science Senator to promote research opportunities, advocate for student employees, host Science Week and other college events, help with STEM outreach, including Science Unwrapped; and coordinate professional development programs. Apply for council president by Friday, April 22; apply to become a council member by Saturday, April 30.
Enjoy Movie Night Tuesday, April 26
Your student-led Science Council invites you to enjoy a well-deserved study break with the 2014 sci-fi adventure “Interstellar” at 6 p.m. in LSB 133. Admission is a non-perishable food item for the Cache Community Food Pantry. Kick back with your friends and FREE SNACKS on the last day of classes.
New Scholarship Opportunity for Pre-Meds
The application period is open for the new Dr. Gary R. and Debra B. Gibbons Scholarship. This scholarship is targeted to College of Science students interested in pursuing a career in medicine. Apply through the university’s ScholarshipUniverse platform by Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
Rapid Fire Research Showcases Student Achievements
Kudos to the grad student and undergrad researchers who participated in Rapid Fire Research 2022. The new presentation format, initiated by Manuel Santana, the college’s 2022 Peak Prize Undergraduate Researcher of the Year, has been a successful showcase of student ingenuity during the 2021-22 academic year.

Congratulations on your impressive achievements! We invite you to celebrate your achievements during Commencement Activities Thursday, May 5: Assemble on the Quad at 8 am to process to the Spectrum for USU Commencement Ceremony at 9 am; At 6 pm, assemble in the Waynes Estes Center immediately west of Dee Glen Smith Spectrum to line up for the procession into the Spectrum for the College of Science Convocation at 6:30 pm, ice cream social follows.

Student Leadership Updates
Gabriella Cale, an undergrad biology major with a chemistry minor, has been elected USUSA College of Science Senator for the 2022-23 academic year. Cale succeeds 2021-22 Science Senator Jonathan Mousley, who is completing his term this spring. Special thanks to Jonathan for his service and welcome to Gabriella!

Science Unwrapped
Science Unwrapped thanks its featured speakers for the wonderful 2021-22 “Science on the Horizon” series, along with volunteers and participants. The college’s public outreach program returns with a new series for 2022-23 in September, and we’ll be seeking volunteers to provide hands-on learning activities!

Student Hardship Fund
The College of Science Hardship Fund provides one-time, emergency financial assistance to students within the college who are experiencing a crisis. This fund is separate from the university’s Student Emergency Fund, from which science majors may also apply for assistance. To access the fund’s website, select “Students” from the main navigation bar on the College of Science home page and select “Student Hardship Fund” from the drop-down menu.
