Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter and Daily Choices

"It is our choices that show us who we truly are, Harry, far more than our abilities." - Albus Dumbledore. Almost every minister has the quintessential Harry Potter sermon up their sleeve, but have you ever heard a Neville Longbottom sermon? Small choices make a big difference, a theme that will be explored through neuroscience, and the Harry Potter Universe.

This week's Volunteer Needs:
  • Tuesday- Roll the trash cans out to the street (approximate time commitment: 30min) or bring them in on Wednesday.
  • After 2/11/22 or when we return to live service, we will need an office volunteer to copy and fold the Order of Service. This would happen on a Friday after noon or anytime Saturday. (approximate time commitment: 1 hour)

  • 1/29 Saturday Breakfast Needs: 6:30-8:15am Brown Bag and Coffee helper; 7-8:30am clothes and toiletry hand out.
Somehow we’ve kept the Sat breakfast going safely through all of the virus turmoil. Many thanks to all of you who volunteer and/or donate. - John Ray

  • The UUCSR Flower Committee is looking for new members!
The Flower Committee is a creative circle of UU community members who wish to share with the congregation the gift flowers. We would love a few new friends to assist us in this wonderful task. Time commitment will be 1 to 2 weekends per month.

No flower arranging experience needed! Training is being planned for March. Training will also be provided by shadowing veteran members.

Flowers are not required either. The committee has retired member or two who shares their gardens or donations from UU community members. We have a small budget to reimburse flower purchases. We have simplified the schedule and the number of arrangements.

Flexibility towards the busy lives of our volunteers is our first priority. Come on Saturday, or a little early on Sunday and make something beautiful once or twice a month. Or even a few times per year.

Text or call Mary Keefe at 517-281-5700 or email mkeefe22@sbcglobal.net.
Talk to a flower committee member at church, Mary Keefe, Liz Larew, Heather Gori, Mary Michael, Stacie Sincheff, and Noah Keefe-Reitzell.

MESSAGE FROM HAT
(Health Advisory Team)

UUCSR PANDEMIC POLICY
(UPDATED 1/20/2022):

Our congregation will observe the current mandate from Sonoma County Public Health to avoid gatherings of over 50 people; Sunday services are on Zoom at least until the expiration of this mandate on February 11. The County mandate does allow some flexibility for groups of 12 people or less.

The Health Advisory Team considers that the following policies will protect our congregation and staff and still comply with the letter and spirit of the County mandate:

1. We will continue the policy of requiring verified current vaccination or negative testing within 24 hours for entry into the facility. Your compliance with this has been fantastic.
2. Those preparing or performing Sunday service may number up to 12 and may remove masks when speaking or singing, and continue to maintain 6 feet of social distancing.
3. All small groups who wish to meet in-person will keep attendance under 12 per group, with verified vaccination or test status, distancing and masking. Group leaders please use the list on the office door to date and initial for all attendees to allow contact tracing if needed.
4. N95 or KN95 masks are recommended for all in-person events and will be provided for staff.
5. Religious Education may meet in groups of 10 or less for kids over 5 who are vaccinated and masked, and kids 2-5 masked. Contact Era Capone (dre@uusantarosa.org) for details.
6. Please report any COVID illness to our administrator as this information will help the Health Advisory Team to assess effectiveness of our preventative measures. This will remain confidential if desired.
