Vienna features a mix of international companies and a dynamic start-up scene. The Medical University of Vienna, the Vienna BioCenter and the Vienna Life Sciences Center Muthgasse provide fertile grounds for innovation.
The LISAvienna is a joint life science platform operated by Austrian Wirtschaftsservice and the Vienna Business Agency. The platform supports innovation in biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device and digital health companies. LISAvienna connects these companies with development partners and key customers.
Dr. Alexander Biach, the Deputy Director of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, is making a decisive contribution to positioning Vienna as a Health Metropolis for cutting-edge medical innovations and highlighting the great economic importance of the health and life science sector.
Sponsorship programmes such as the 4-week Start-up Program offered by the Vienna Business Agency and the GIN Go-Austria Program of the Global Incubator Network (GIN) are market discovery and access programs designed for start-ups to explore the Austrian markets.

The Vienna Chamber of Commerce supports over 147,000 Viennese entrepreneurs in all matters relating to entrepreneurship. Companies looking to internationalize are furthermore supported by more than 100 WKO foreign trade offices around the world.
The Vienna Chamber of Commerce is working closely with the City of Vienna to position Vienna as a "Health Metropolis", being one of the thematic areas of the strategy "Vienna 2030 - Economic & Innovation". Dr. Alexander Biach, Deputy Director of the Vienna Chamber, is entrusted by the City of Vienna as a Business Location Advocate to anchor important lighthouse projects of the City of Vienna.

Medical University of Vienna |
The Medical University of Vienna (MedUni Vienna) is one of the longest-established medical education and research facilities in Europe. With almost 8.000 students, It is currently the largest medical training centre in German-speaking countries.
With more than 6,000 employees, 30 departments and two clinical institutes, 13 medical theory centres and numerous highly specialised laboratories, it is one of Europe's leading research establishments in the biomedical sector.

Launched in January 2022, EIT Health Austria is the newest in the network of Co-Location Centres (CLC) and InnoStars. The network aim to fast-track healthcare innovation in Europe. All CLCs are part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, a body of the European Union.
EIT Health Austria brings together 15 core, associate and network partners in Vienna, including some of the leading universities, businesses, start-up incubators, and healthcare providers, including one of Europe’s largest Hospitals and care facility holding.

The Global Incubator Network Austria |
The Global Incubator Network Austria (GIN) is the connecting link between Austrian and international startups, investors, incubators and accelerators with a focus on selected hotspots in Asia (Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Mainland China, Singapore and South Korea).
GIN is a program initiated by the Austrian Federal Government, managed by the public funding agencies Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH and Österreichische Forschungs- förderungsgesellschaft, and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Labour and Economy.

Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH (aws) is the promotional bank of the Austrian federal government. It supports companies in implementing their innovative projects by offering soft loans, grants and guarantees, particularly in cases where the funds required cannot be obtained sufficiently through alternative funding.
The aws also offers sector specific information, individual coaching and advanced services to prospective existing and expanding companies.

The Vienna Business Agency supports local and international companies in all phases of their business development, providing consulting on all corporate issues and helping expats get up and running in Vienna. Anyone wanting to found a company, start-ups, sole traders, domestic and international small and medium-sized enterprises or corporations will receive all the information they need.
The vienna business agency is a fund of the city of vienna intended to enable funding, business premises, workspace, consulting, workshops and partnerships.

Vienna Science and Technology Fund |
The WWTF is a fund which supports outstanding scientific research. Scientific projects are selected according to stringent criteria and competitive procedures and if selected, receive funding from the WWTF.
By selecting focus areas for their funding, the WWTF embeds their scientific work in socially relevant issues. It promotes active networking between disciplines and institutions.

Health Hub Vienna is a platform for open innovation that actively promotes change in the European healthcare system. It provides a collaborative and innovative environment for pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers and private and public insurance companies, amongst others, to connect with start-ups and with each other.
The Hub fosters innovation by serving as a connector between all stakeholders in healthcare; from the single student with a business idea, to the pharma company that adopts innovation.
