But what happens if North Carolina invests in those social drivers of health — particularly in housing, food, transportation, and interpersonal safety — to reduce the need for medical care? That's the question Impact Health aims to answer.

As one of three N.C. Healthy Opportunities pilot programs, Impact Health is working with human service organizations in the 18 westernmost counties to identify where and how investments in SDofH can reduce the need for clinical care.

Its first cohort of network members was announced earlier this month and includes many organizations working within Nantahala Health Foundation's service footprint.
