Greetings!
After a long period without volunteers due to COVID-19, it's been a pleasure to welcome individual, group, and court-ordered volunteers back to The Kearney Center this year with open arms.
We can always use extra hands to help with serving meals, clerical support, coordinating donation drives, and more.

$1.5M Appropriations Request for CESC The Kearney Center Approved to Go in State Budget
|
Legislative Session in Tallahassee is coming to an end and things are looking promising for CESC The Kearney Center. With the help of our lobbyist, Nicole Kelly from The Southern Group, our $1.5M appropriations request was put in the budget which is awaiting the Governor's signature.
This funding will support our Diversion Program and help those in the community struggling through homelessness obtain housing, secure employment, access health care, and work towards a stable, independent future.
We are grateful to Representative Jason Shoaf and Senator Aaron Bean for supporting our mission to help end homelessness and fight for the betterment of our community.

Dear Friend,
As we enter a new season of the year, many of our clients are also entering a new season of their lives. A season of change. A season of growth. One that will lead them to a life of independence.
We are able to provide a safe, stable place for clients to get on a path to self-sufficiency because of our generous donors. There are many ways you can make a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable community members by giving to The Kearney Center.
Please consider supporting our mission to make homelessness in our community rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

Edward became homeless due to health issues that prevented him from staying employed. He moved from Atlanta to Tallahassee, where he was homeless until becoming a client at The Kearney Center.
“I’ve been here for about a month and a half. I love it here. This place practically saved my life because I was ready to give up on life. But if I could say to the next person, don’t give up. Just hold on. The staff has been very kind to me and have treated me with love and respect”, said Farley.
When asked how The Kearney Center has helped him in his journey to obtain housing, Edward said, “I couldn’t believe how fast things are moving right now for me. I’ve been in three or four other shelters and I’ve never seen anything like this one.”
Edward recently applied for housing and received assistance paying for the security deposit. We are proud to help him get on a path to self-sufficiency.
