Congratulations to UPark PE teacher, Tracy Hartin, on being named Elementary PE teacher of the Year!!
Principal
We are so excited to begin preparing for the 23-24 school year. Construction crews and our FM Ulfeta have been hard at work this summer making sure our school is ready for teachers and students. You are going to love some new additions to our building when you join us for our Meet and Greet Supply Drop Off next week. We have all new shiny hallway floors upstairs and downstairs. We have new heat mitigation blinds in both stairwells, paving the way for a cooler UPark. Many classrooms have upgraded Newline boards this year as well, thanks to Denver Voters and a generous PTA donation. The rest of our classroom boards will be upgraded over the course of the next few months.

Natalie and I are excited to welcome back our teachers next week. Our week next week will include time for teachers to set up their classrooms. We will also be discussing our school goals and focus for the school year during our Professional Development session titled The UPark Way. This PD will center on supporting the academic and social / emotional well being of each and every UPark Owl. Teachers will also be engaging in a variety of district level professional learning next week.

Additionally, we have something very special and different that we will be doing together as a staff next week to help us gear up for the great school year ahead. Thanks to our PTA, Robin Kiggins, and all of our parent donors, all UPark staff will be engaging in an off-site full day of team building at MindSpark in Lakewood. This will be the first time in my time as UPark's principal that our whole team will engage in an off campus experience like this. We are so excited to get to spend next Wednesday growing together as a staff and as people.

This year marks a big milestone for me at UPark as this will be my sixth year as your principal. That means that this year's fifth graders were kindergartners when I started in 2018. So they'll be the first group of UPark students that I've had the pleasure of knowing from kindergarten all the way through fifth grade. I love seeing how much our kiddos grow as learners and as people from year to year throughout their UPark journey. Thank you for all of the trust you put in us as teachers and caretakers of your kiddos. Have a great week and I can't wait to see you all next Thursday!

School Supply Lists
Free Meals for all DPS Students! Action Still Required!
All students in DPS will have access to free healthy, nutritious school meals beginning this school year thanks to the Healthy School Meals for All program approved by Colorado voters! While meals will be provided for free to all DPS students through Healthy School Meals for All, families will still need to complete a form to ensure DPS gets full access to available federal funding.

ALL FAMILIES: Please be sure to fill out the You Benefit! form (formerly referred to as the Meals Application). There is school specific funding related to the completion of these forms so it is very important to have all families fill it out. By completing the form, you will help us access all available funds to cover the cost of meals, and other nutritional programs for students.
  • Families who fill out the You Benefit! form may qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more!
  • All household income information provided through this form is strictly confidential and protected by law. Only one form is required for all children in the household.
  • Immigration, migrant, citizenship or refugee status is not required when completing the form.

If you have questions about completing the You Benefit! form, please contact the DPS Food & Nutrition Services department by calling 720-423-5600 or emailing the foodservices@dpsk12.org inbox. For more information on DPS school meals, menus and health info click here.
