Rye Derby & Healthy Kids Day

Happiness was in the air at the Rye Y on Sunday, April 24. Hundreds of families and runners enjoyed a beautiful morning of races, activities, camaraderie and fun!

The event raised over $50,000 which will help support the Y Cares financial assistance program ensuring that the Rye Y remains inclusive, diverse and open to all!

Social Responsibility
In May 2014, the Rye Y launched “Togetherhood," a national YMCA social responsibility initiative that brings members together in community service. In the past eight years, our volunteer Togetherhood Committee has organized 37 projects for organizations in Rye, Mamaroneck, Harrison, Port Chester, White Plains, the Bronx and beyond. Hundreds of volunteers of all ages have pitched in to make a difference.

For a list of all of our projects, click here. If you would like to get involved with Togetherhood, contact Denise Woodin.

Upcoming Togetherhood Project - Saturday, May 7, noon-2 pm
The Rye Y’s next Togetherhood community service project will be a family-friendly event at the Rye Nature Center for ages 5+. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Registration is required. For more information and to sign up, click here. Please note in the comment box the age(s) of any participating children.
May is National Water Safety Month
As "America's swim instructor," the YMCA teaches children of all ages and from all backgrounds that water should be fun, not feared, if you know how to stay safe in and around water. Unfortunately, the risks of drowning are tremendous and we want to share some important facts with the community in preparation for the summer season.
  • More children ages 1–4 die from drowning than any other cause of death except birth defects.
  • Drowning happens in seconds and is often silent.
  • Drowning can happen to anyone, any time there is access to water.

We are grateful for the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation for supporting the Rye Y’s water safety efforts.
