This is Jesse and Tashia.
They grew up in Christian homes and met at a Christian college. Even though they were surrounded by Christianity, Marty and The BEMA Podcast helped them see that there was so much more to learn and so many other perspectives to understand. After the first few episodes, they were completely hooked. They binged every episode (“especially Session 2”).
BEMA has become an important part of their family life over the past four years, helping them feel more comfortable asking questions and exploring the depths of the Text. A few years before the pandemic, Tashia had some major health complications that kept them from attending services and being otherwise involved with their local church. Resources like BEMA bridged the gap and helped their family fall even more in love with the Text. Jesse started leading the family in Bible studies at home—part of which included learning Hebrew letters and words.
“Marty, Brent, and the new BEMA hosts have been great examples of the grace we should show toward other perspectives—especially ones we don’t personally believe. The BEMA Slack has been a living example of conversation with fellow believers of different perspectives. I know it must be difficult, but the BEMA moderation team has done a great job with the delicate environment of online chat. We’re so glad to be a part of this community, and we can’t wait to see what God is going to do next with BEMA.”
