Recently At St Columba's
New Kitchen Countertop Installed!
Our water-damaged kitchen countertop is no more! Check out the beautiful, new countertop thanks to the work of our handymen, Jim Edwards, Dale Bronk, and Dale Humphries. The new countertop was made possible by the time and effort of the members of the Guild of St Rose and the generosity of those who supported the Rose Sunday Bake Sale and the St Rose Gift Shoppe. Thank you St Columba's!
Shrove Tuesday
Shrove Tuesday's pancake supper brought smiles to so many faces! It was a great evening and a good preparation to our Lenten season. Special thanks to all of our EYC who not only set up and cooked for the evening, but also helped with the final preparations of the church for Lent. Veiling the altar cross is no easy task; but two of our youth braved the ladder and battled the tulle veil (and we'll not mention the little hiccup with the box of pins :-).

A shout out of thanks also to Dale Humphries, Gary Walker, and Jason Startt for supervising the kitchen and to Jerry Adams and Dan and Nilka Rios-Burrows for their help burning the palms to make ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Bingo night, laffy taffy corny jokes, fabulous prizes all exemplified the heart of our parish: a holy place where love is found.

Thanks To You, Winter Coat Drive Was A Big Success
Over 100 coats, hoodies, sweaters and mittens were donated by you, the very generous parishioners of St. Columba’s. I personally saw the joy these warm garments brought to the underserved clients at The Place of Forsyth County (link).

Thanks again from Tom Dillon and the St. Columba’s Outreach Committee.
Coffee Hosts Needed
The coffee guild is in need of additional help on Sunday mornings. We provide the coffee, pastries, juice and other goodies that we all enjoy so much before and after each of the services. We have teams on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month that divide up the duties in whatever way best works for their team. The greatest need is help on the 1st Sunday of the month, but we can use help any Sunday morning. Please speak with Wendy Lambert wendyclambert7@gmail.com or with Laura Dillon ldillon0881@yahoo.com for more information or to sign up.
Chalice Bearers Needed
We need chalice bearers for both the 8.30 and the 11.00 Sunday Masses. No experience necessary - all high school youth and adults are welcome to serve. If you'd like to learn more, speak with our verger, Jerry Adams, or a member of the clergy. You serve as often as you'd like by signing up using the online rota for the Mass at which you'd like to serve. See the button below for the online rota.

Wednesday Lenten Program
March 8 - April 5
Wednesday Evenings
  • 6.30 - Stations of the Cross
  • 7.15 - Dinner and Program
  • 8.15 - Sung Compline

Lent is that 40-day journey preparing us for our celebration of Easter, and the season begins Ash Wednesday. The three hallmark disciplines of Lent are prayer, fasting (self-denial), and almsgiving. How can this Lent be more intentional for you? How might you grow your faith in new and refreshing ways? What might you give up this season that will help you focus on your life of prayer, devotion, and service in Jesus' name? Perhaps part of your Lenten journey can include our Wednesday evening program. We'll begin each Wednesday by walking the Stations of the Cross and then gather in the Narthex for a light meal (soup and salad) and our lenten program, "Angels: Finding Grace, Beauty & Meaning thru the Messengers of God." The evening concludes with a candlelight sung Compline. All are welcome; the program is designed so that each week stands on its own - attend as your schedule allows. Click the button below to view the full details in our Lenten Brochure.

Note: We begin on March 8th. March 1st is the date set for Mother Melanie's Installation as the Rector of the Church of Our Saviour, so we'll suspend our Wednesday program so those who are able can attend the service in Atlanta.
Sunday Mornings
During Lent
Begins This Sunday
February 26 - April 2
"Basics of Believing: In Depth"
Sundays, 9:30 - 10:30 am
Our Sunday morning forum this Lent will look at what Christians believe about God, the Incarnation, Resurrection, Scripture, Miracles, Sacraments, and Community. This class will be a great program for anyone new to the church, new to the parish, or preparing for confirmation. The adult forum meets in the narthex. Grab a cup of coffee and bring your Prayer Book and favorite Bible.
Wednesday Evenings During Lent
March 8 - April 5
"Angels - Their Beauty, Grace, & Meaning"
"O higher than the cherubim, more glorious than the seraphim, lead their praises, alleluia . . . " Angels appear in some of the most significant stories of Scripture: the story of creation, the Annunciation to St Mary, the dreams of St Joseph, the shepherds adoration, the empty tomb of Jesus at the time of His resurrection, to name a few. This Lent we'll explore these stories of Scripture and discover how angels show us the very thoughts, heart, and will of God and what God is doing even now as we 'entertain angels unawares." Join us for dinner and the program eachWednesday after Stations of the Cross.
Stations of the Cross
"Setting Out In Great Hope"
Wednesdays, 6.30 pm
Beginning 3/8
Beginning 8 March, we will pray Stations of the Cross every Wednesday evening beginning at 6.30 pm. When the weather permits, we'll use our outdoor Stations of the Cross; otherwise, we'll walk stations using the indoor stations in the church.
