Message From Lisa

May is a beautiful spring month and on the 30th brings us the popular holiday, Memorial Day. Memorial Day is about so much more than a day off work and some hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while serving in the military service of their country. In other words, the purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Let’s spend some time remembering those who lost their lives and could not come home, reflecting on their service and why we have the luxury and freedom that we enjoy today.

7 Prescription Drugs Linked to

Birth Injuries

It’s common knowledge that the use of illegal drugs and alcohol during pregnancy can cause serious developmental birth injuries. But, using certain prescription drugs while pregnant can also lead to similar injuries and disabilities. Lanier Law Group, P.A. is here to share some medications expecting mothers should avoid during and after their pregnancy.

Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs)

According to a study done by the CDC, researchers found that congenital disabilities occurred around two to three times more frequently among babies with mothers who took specific types of SSRIs, like paroxetine and fluoxetine, early on in their pregnancy. Researchers linked these drugs to injuries that affect the baby’s skull, heart, and abdominal wall.

Accutane, a common prescription medication for acne, has also been linked to congenital disabilities.
