Rama Road Elementary Homework Helpers

It's back to school time! Kids are returning to school providing us with an opportunity to work with teachers and students at Rama Road Elementary School. We need homework helpers for Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. You can help a first or second grader improve their reading, literacy and math skills — and have fun doing it. What kind of impact can you make? Last year two of our students received End-of-Year awards from their teachers for the improvements they made. The school attributed their success to the Sardis Homework Helpers! If you’d like to learn more and become a volunteer, contact Pam Stirling

Pool For School Tools Drive Receives Big Support!

Sardis, you came through once again! Thank yo for your generosity  and support of our Pool For School Tools Drive! The teachers are Rama Road Elementary School are so thankful for the much needed supplies for their classrooms. New this year was our Amazon wishlist option and we were so excited to see so many donations come through that as well. Thank you, Sardis, for your continued support of our Planting Seeds of Hope Partnership.

Sardis Service at Rama Road Open House

A group of Sardis volunteers gave a helping hand, passing out ice cream treats to Rama Road Elementary School families during their open house event this month! It was a great way to celebrate the beginning of the new school year! If you are interested in volunteer opportunities through our Planting Seeds of Hope partnership with Rama Road Elementary, contact Susan Aulebach.

Coming Up...

Change Lives In Our Community

‘What should we do then?’ the crowd asked. LUKE 3:10. As we look into our Charlotte community we see people who don’t have enough clothes to wear or enough food to eat…right here in our own community. So we ask, “What should we do then?”

Mission Ministry would like to give you 3 opportunities to answer that question. In Luke 3:11, John

answers the crowd in this way, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same”. John makes it very simple. Mission will be hosting a Clothing Drive for Crisis Assistance and a Food Drive for Loaves and Fishes/Friendship

Trays. Mission will also be supporting the CROP Walk 2022. These are three ways you can serve your neighbors in our community.

Becoming an Earth Care Congregation

Genesis 2:15 The Lord God took the human and settled him in the garden of Eden to farm it and to take care of it. (CEB)

From the oldest Biblical traditions, we are called to care for creation. A new effort under the Missions Ministry is arising within Sardis to answer that call to care for our world. The Earth Care team embraces the Sardis vision of “Exploring Faith, Changing Lives” and equipping disciples to impact the world by being good stewards of God’s creation. Through worship, education, outreach, and facilities, the Earth Care team will guide Sardis Presbyterian’s journey to earn the PC(USA) Earth Care Congregation designation.

Stay tuned for ways the congregation can be a part of this effort. Can’t wait to get involved with the Earth Care team? Contact Shannon Klug to volunteer.  God is doing a new thing….do you not perceive it?
