Florida-bred Whatintheliteral Upsets Astoria With Determined Effort

Florida-bred Whatintheliteral sprinted to the lead from the start and fought off a tenacious Aoraki throughout the stretch to win the $150,000 Astoria by head at Saratoga Thursday. It was the first career victory for the Jena Antonucci trainee, who defeated six other 2-year-old fillies going five-and-a-half furlongs at odds of 13-1.

Sweet Dani Girl Returns to Action as Favorite in PTHA President's Cup

Returning from two months away from the races, Florida-bred Sweet Dani Girl has been installed as the 2-1 morning line favorite for Saturday’s $75,000 PTHA President’s Cup at Parx Racing. Last year’s Florida-bred champion female turf horse is among 13 fillies and mares entered to go a mile-and-a-sixteenth on the grass. However, 7-2 morning line second choice Evidencias (Brz) and Priyanka at 4-1 in the program are entered under main track only conditions.

Filly is eligible for $1.2 million FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes

A Florida-bred filly by Ocala Stud’s first crop sire Win Win Win breezed a furlong in :9.80 Thursday to share the fastest time for the distance during the third day of under tack works previewing the Ocala Breeders’ Sales June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age.

Two Outstanding Agriculturists To Be Inducted into the Marion County Agriculture Hall of Fame

OCALA, FL—Dr. Harrell Phillips and Scott Seiler will be inducted into the Marion County Agriculture Hall of Fame at an induction ceremony and banquet on Thurs., Nov. 21, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion in Ocala. The banquet is part of the annual Farm City Week activities held Nov. 20-27.

Van Dyke Begins 30-Day Riding Stint Friday at Gulfstream

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Southern California-based jockey Drayden Van Dyke has answered trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.'s call and will switch his tack to Gulfstream Park for a 30-day stint.


The 29-year-old jockey has one call Friday, four Saturday and another four Sunday, all for Gulfstream's leading trainer.
