Information Session for Small CBO Capacity-Building RFP on Feb. 28 *

Have you been operating a small community-based organization (CBO) for at least two years and just need some assistance to scale up? The Children's Trust will be releasing an RFP in early April for the Small CBO Capacity-Building initiative. Executive directors will participate in learning sessions, work with peer group and receive professional coaching while using funding to complete capacity-building growth plans. Ready, Set, Go Miami Early Literacy Training in Late February

The READy, Set, Go Miami! early literacy blitz kicks off in March. Give your community partners, parents or staff the training to encourage families to use literacy strategies while waiting at the doctor’s office, cooking dinner or sitting at the bus stop.


Everyone is welcome to join one of the Miami-Dade Grade Level Reading (MDGLR) Campaign’s February host trainings in English and Spanish (Creole took place on Feb. 21). The trainings take place:

  • Spanish, Feb. 23, 4 p.m.
  • English, Feb. 27, 4 p.m.

Benefits Enrollment RFP for Trust-Funded Agencies Out April 3

Funding for existing providers will soon be available. Would the families you work with benefit from targeted assistance with applying for public benefits, including employment assistance, nutrition programs, child care and health insurance? The Children’s Trust will seek applicants for a new 5-year funding cycle to start in October. The Benefits Enrollment request for proposals (RFP) is scheduled to be released April 3. NAMI's FREE South Florida Suicide Awareness Conference on March 4

NAMI Miami-Dade invites providers to The South Florida Suicide Prevention Awareness Conference on Saturday, March 4th from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Suicide was the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-14 and 25-34 in 2020, the most recent year for which data is available. Researchers emphasize that reported suicides are likely undercounted. There is a suicide death in the US every 11 minutes and approximately 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness each year.


Join NAMI to hear practical information and learn about resources available on mental health challenges and suicide prevention. The conference will be held at the University of Miami Newman Alumni Center, 6200 San Amaro Drive, Coral Gables, FL 33146.

Available Positions at The Children's Trust

Program Manager - ($55,968 Annual)

The Program Manager position manages the full life cycle of assigned funded program(s) and services located throughout Miami-Dade County. This position requires occasional non-traditional work hours (weekends and evenings) and reliable transportation.


This professional position will support the Programs Management Team in implementing strategies that foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. S/he is responsible for utilizing change management, knowledge, skills, and behaviors to promote continuous quality improvement throughout the assigned contracts and projects. This person will be assigned a caseload of contracts and may serve as initiative/project lead.


Human Resources Manager - ($85,120 Annual)

The Human Resources Manager performs professional work overseeing a range of administrative functions related to human resource management, employee development and customer service. This position leads and directs staff, consultants, or other third-party entities for the administration of pay, benefits, retirement, and recruitment. The Human Resources Manager maintains and develops effective internal procedures, the employee handbook and handle employee-related issues, ensuring legal compliance is followed; and the organization’s policies and practices are communicated and enforced.


Administrative Services Coordinator, Human Resources - ($48,668 Annual)

This Administrative Services Coordinator – Human Resources, is responsible for assisting in a variety of functions related to the administrative services of The Children’s Trust’s operations which include continuous quality improvement, planning, coordination, and management of special projects related to the area of Human Resources.


This position includes, but is not limited to, assisting in the development of procedures, project management, and assigned tasks related to Human Resources matters.


Media Manager - ($55,968 Annual)

The Media Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Communications with all forms of media, including earned and paid media, sponsored content, and social media. The Media Manager will be the primary executor of media strategies as directed by both the Director of Communications and the Chief Public Policy & Engagement Officer. The incumbent will also work directly with both marketing and public relations consultants, as assigned. The incumbent will have creative latitude to develop written content, under the approval of the Director of Communications and Chief Public Policy & Engagement Officer and will have the opportunity to pitch and develop media stories.


Research & Evaluation Analyst - ($55,968 Annual)

The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR: The Development Director will support the advancement functions of the organization, including building, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of donors for annual and multi-year gifts. The Director will focus on growing corporate giving. DIRECTOR OF AMERICORPS & VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS: The Director of AmeriCorps & Volunteer Programs crafts and facilitates Breakthrough Miami’s AmeriCorps member experience. The Director is responsible for the preparation, support and evaluation of both school-year members (Success Coaches) and summer members (Teaching Fellows) and will assist the Director of Recruitment with recruitment efforts of all members. The Director has primary operational oversight of Breakthrough Miami’s AmeriCorps grant and delivers AmeriCorps program activities that align with best practices in the field of youth development, education, and college readiness. The Director cultivates a working relationship with AmeriCorps members to understand their goals and aspirations, support their development, foster a peer network amongst members, and facilitate continued engagement with Breakthrough and/or participation in the education sector professionally or otherwise. 


This position also leads Breakthrough Miami’s volunteer program, across all sites. The Director supports the preparation and efficacy of our student volunteers, and ensures they are provided with professional development and leadership opportunities.


ASSISTANT SITE DIRECTOR: The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.  


The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


GROWLIGHT SUMMER PROGRAM DIRECTOR: The Growlight Summer Program Director leads and manages an intensive four-week summer Breakthrough experience in collaboration with FIU College of Architecture and the Arts at FIU Miami Beach Studios. The Director works collaboratively with directors, staff, faculty, resident artists, and graduate students to deliver the Growlight program. Supporting up to 30 motivated high school students who will attend the program on Miami Beach, the Growlight Director will be a part of pre-summer program planning, logistics, enhancements, and donor events.


SUMMER INSTRUCTIONAL COACHES: Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content-specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their ongoing work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive, and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This role starts on June 10, 2023, and ends on August 4, 2023.


The individuals in this role must have a State of Florida Teaching Certificate or equivalent; an outstanding track record as a professional classroom teacher; exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to deliver positive, constructive and honest feedback; and creativity, energy and commitment to excellence.


SUMMER SITE COORDINATORS: Summer Site Coordinators (SSCs) are critical members of the summer administrative team and help ensure the smooth and safe operations of the Summer Institute at their assigned site. SSCs train, coordinate and oversee volunteers; supervise the summer food service program for Scholars and staff; order and keep an inventory of program supplies; coordinate general office administration; manage the Scholar drop-off and pick-up process; and assist with the execution of special events. This position starts on June 10, 2023 and ends on August 4, 2023.


The individuals in this role must have a strong academic record with a minimum of two years of college completion; and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.


SUMMER ASSISTANT SITE DIRECTORS: Summer Assistant Site Directors (SASDs) work collaboratively with full-time directors at their assigned site to ensure a successful Summer Institute; and work closely with Scholars and their families, as well as Teaching Fellows to ensure their needs are met. This position starts on June 10, 2023, and ends on August 4, 2023.

The individuals in this role must have a bachelor’s degree; a high degree of flexibility in order to multitask between projects; exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in many different environments with people from diverse backgrounds; comfort and confidence in working with children and adults; and creativity, energy, and a commitment to excellence.

The City of Miami LGBTQIA+ SDoH Accelerator Plan is an initiative focused on addressing health inequity in the City of Miami LGBTQIA+ community and supported by The City of Miami and the CDC.
