Here is a simple sensory exploration for infants that can promote fine motor skills and be put together in very little time.

If you work with infants in group care, use adhesive paper to display a picture of each child's mother on the wall next to your changing table. Encourage children to identify their mother's picture when you change their diaper.

Salt, flour, water, an oven and some paint is what you will need to make these adorable footprint hearts. These can be used as Mother's Day presents or any special occasion. If baby can hold and use a paintbrush, they can help with the painting.

Take advantage of teachable moments with your toddler.
If you are at the park or grocery store with your child chances are you may hear another child either screaming or crying. If your little one hears them too, take a second and explain to them that the other child is sad or upset. You can brainstorm with them reasons that the child is upset such as they don’t want to go home or they are not getting something they want.

There’s something about discovering a worm right under your feet that blows kids’ little minds! And you don’t need much to dig for worms. Find an outdoor area where you can dig (a garden or near the edge of the woods is ideal). The best time to find worms near the surface is after a rain when the soil is moist. Give each kid a shovel or garden spade and encourage them to dig into the dirt.

How many drops of what does it take to fill a circle? Draw some different sized circles randomly around a piece of laminated paper. If you don’t have a laminator you can use a sheet protector. You will also need colored water and an eye-dropper.
