Latinx Digital Humanities Events

The Department of Spanish & Portuguese, Center for Ethnic Studies, OSU Libraries, and CLAS are partnering to offer two events on Latinx Digital Humanities intended for OSU faculty, postdocs, and graduate student researchers.

On Wed, April 20 (4-5:30pm), Drs. Carolina Villarroel and Lorena Gauthereau will give a lecture entitled "Doing Work that Matters: Latinx Archives, Digital Humanities, & Community Work".

The following day, Thurs, April 21 (10am-1pm), they will hold a complementary workshop entitled "Latinx Digital Humanities Workshop: Contesting the Historical Record with Digital Tools". Attendance will be capped at 25 participants, so register if you wish to participate.

Both events will take place in-person in the Research Commons (3rd floor) of the 18th Avenue Library.

AU22 Translation Courses

In Autumn 2022, OSU's Translation & Interpreting Program will offer two hands-on courses:

• CLLC 5101 Introduction to Professional Translation (MW 3:55-5:15 pm)
  Taught by Clarissa Surek-Clark (surek-clark.1@osu.edu)
• CLLC 5103 T&I Practicum (M 1-4 pm)
  Taught by Patricia Sieber (sieber.6@osu.edu)

Both courses are open to undergraduate and graduate students with at least intermediate language skills in any world language.

Cuia Hornea: multilingual literary anthology

The SPPO Creative Writing Group invites you to the presentation of their first collective publication, a fanzine entitled Cuia Hornea, a multilingual literary anthology. This publication is a result of their online writing sessions during the pandemic. They will share their creative and collective writing process.

This presentation is free and open to all and will take place on Fri, April 15 from 2:20 to 3:40 pm in Hagerty Hall 159, as well as via Zoom.

In-person attendees will receive a copy of the fanzine. Food and beverages will be provided.

IPAST

Apply now for OSU's Intensive Portuguese Abroad for Spanish Teachers (IPAST) program, to be held July 3-24 at the Federal University of Paraná, in Curitiba, Brazil.

The program leverages participants' knowledge of Spanish to help them acquire Portuguese quickly and provides them with an immersive linguistic and cultural experience.

2022 OFLA Conference

The Ohio Foreign Language Association (OFLA) is still accepting submissions for its annual conference, to be held July 25-27 in Dublin, OH.

Submit your proposal(s) here. The following presentation types are available: 50-minute session, half-day workshop, full-day workshop, and exhibitor session.
