A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Principal's Message,
I hope all our families had a safe and healthy winter break, making the best of the holiday season. Quality family time at home is just as important as quality instructional time at school. Our priority together is to nurture kids to be intellectually curious, academically successful, socially skilled, and emotionally confident.
Although we are in the midst of a very challenging month with the increased number of positive COVID cases and teacher absences, our kids remain our top priority. Therefore, we will continue to prioritize mitigation strategies at school, and we ask that you and your family be vigilant at home to help stop the spread in our community.
The character trait focus for January is respect. This newsletter contains information from Capturing Kids Hearts with ideas and activities to reinforce respect at home. In addition, teachers are infusing lessons about respect into their instruction, and we will review respect at our school assembly.
PTO is hard at work preparing for our upcoming fundraiser. Please look for details and more information in your inbox at the end of this month. The fundraiser will provide an opportunity for funds unlike any we have collected before. We're excited at the prospect of fulfilling teacher and student needs by the end of the school year.
Thank you for your continued support, hard work, and dedication. MSE staff and teachers are excited for the new year! We look forward to strengthening our partnership with all of you while making an impactful change in our kid's lives.
Carrie Thrash

Please note that with colder temperatures, it is necessary to send your child(ren) to school with coats, hats, and gloves. If the temperature or “real feel” indicates 19 degrees or lower on AccuWeather.com, we will have indoor recess, otherwise, we are outside for some fresh air.
