In an effort to expand our reach, Ascencia is dedicated to connecting communities for a greater impact. Move-In Monday is a program designed to lift people out of homelessness in a way that relies on the community to directly impact change and be connected with those we help.

MIM gives you the chance to donate specific household items that our clients need in order to make a house a home. Thank you for your enthusiasm to give a helping hand. Your generous act of kindness can change a life forever!

The items below are listed on Ascencia's Move-In Monday Amazon wish list. Once items are purchased, they are removed from the list, delivered to our facilities, and gifted to our clients.

Newly Housed Clients

Reina

Reina came to California from El Salvador and was taken in by a family that agreed to house her in exchange for housekeeping. When the family no longer had space for her, Reina was left with no shelter. Once the pandemic hit, she could no longer find work, and became homeless.

Reina was forced to sleep on park benches and streets until she connected with Ascencia in September. Through her own perseverance, the support of Ascencia’s Case Management team, and the city of Glendale, Reina was able to find her own apartment! Reina is requesting your help to transition into stability with these items:

Larry

After his and his husband's marriage of 20 years collapsed, Larry left home. He found himself homeless on the streets on West Hollywood, sleeping in doorways and on streets. One day, Larry decided to seek outreach services offered by the West Hollywood Library, who sent him to Ascencia.

Larry stayed in Ascencia's emergency shelter, worked with his case manager, and took advantage of our mental health services. He was able to get back on his feet thanks to Ascencia’s life-changing services, along with support from the West Hollywood Housing Retention Services Program and LA County. Now, Larry has moved into a one-bedroom house of his own! Larry is asking for these basic home essentials for his new home:

Kathleen

Kathleen helped manage a sober living facility until she was seriously injured. She became medically dependent and was forced to stay in an assisted living facility, deeming her unable to work. Once she recovered, she had nowhere to go, and no income.

Kathleen was first connected to us through living in assisted living with our Intensive Case Management Service (ICMS) program. After working with our case management team, she has been able to move into a senior living community, in a two-bedroom unit, for herself and her dog! Kathleen is hoping to be gifted some household items to help her feel at home, including:

Victor

A longtime resident of Glendale, Victor was asked to leave his home of 16 years after the building owner passed away. Victor is a retired senior citizen living off social security benefits, so when he looked for a new place to live, he couldn't find anything that he could afford, and was left on the streets.

Victor was referred to Ascencia by the Armenian Relief Society, and our agencies worked together on his behalf. With the help of our case management team and the Coordinated Entry System (CES), a home for Victor was located. The services he received helped him to alleviate the pains of living on the street in his older age, and he can now live out his retirement in the safety and comfort of his own home. Victor is seeking just a few more essential items for his new home:

The items above are listed on Ascencia's Move-In Monday Amazon wish list. Once items are purchased, they are removed from the list, delivered to our facilities, and gifted to our clients.
