President Eileen's News Flash!
January 20, 2022
To My Esteemed and Amazing Fellow Rotarians!
Although our first meeting of the year was done via Zoom, we had a great time thanks to Rotarians that were able to jump on at noon!

Rocky Cifone went around the virtual room to ask us all to say one word for 2022, then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance! President Eileen provided inspiration about the man that thought he helped a struggling butterfly by cutting its cocoon. Although the butterfly emerged easily, he was never able to fly. Despite the man's help, he didn't understand that the struggle was God's way of forcing fluid from the butterfly's body into its wings to prepare him for flying once it was free. She encouraged Rotarians to embrace the struggle and to stay positive during the difficult times!

John Veytia provided humor for the day and handled the virtual Sergeant-At-Arms duties like a pro! Members that were on the Zoom gave Happy Bucks for so many things going on in their lives! Rocky went to Cabo over the Thanksgiving Day holiday and is recovering nicely from his rotator cuff surgery! Caroline had lots of travel bucks and announced she had a great Viking Cruises/Sweet Caroline Travel event at Salt Creek Wine Company! Rocky endorsed Sweet Caroline Travel for an amazing trip to Cabo and gave a shout out to Caroline for all she did to make their trip an amazing one for the books! Chandra visited the most beautiful desert by the Arizona and Mexican border with her family and had an amazing time! John had us all laughing when he gave Birthday Bucks and sported glasses with his age that he even wore on the plane to Hawaii! RoseAnne had Birthday Bucks for her 35-year-old daughter and so many awesome things going on in her life! Mayor Elaine Gennawey was happy about all the residents that were eager to volunteer to serve on the City's Commissions and Committees!
We heard a great presentation on the "Wellbeing of Youth and the Work of the Wellness & Prevention Center" by Susan Parmelee, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Wellness & Prevention Center. She and Megan Hernandez, WPC Board Member, provided information on all the great work that WPC is doing to provide quality prevention and mental health services for our youth!

As you all know, due to the surge in COVID cases in Orange County, and in an effort to make sure all of our members stay healthy and safe, tomorrow's meeting will be held via Zoom. This will give members the opportunity to stay safe at home or at their office while the COVID numbers hopefully start to decrease.
