Webinar Recap with Amber Quinney and Lauren Rosa Miller

The Williams-Franklin Foundation wrapped up the academic year with two webinars in March. On Thursday March 9, WFF Alumna Amber Quinney hosted “Scholarship Gems: How to Write a Winning Scholarship Essay” to provide tips for the WFF scholarship application. One helpful piece of advice Amber offered is to list all ideas for the essay onto a sheet of paper when students first see the prompt. This way, if they are starting early, students have time to develop an idea and make edits. She also recommended doing research on the scholarship provider and incorporating their mission into the scholarship essay. Amber’s tips are applicable to all scholarship applications that require an essay.

On Sunday March 19, the WFF hosted “Planting the Seed: Building Generational Wealth and Legacy with Lauren Rosa Miller” on Instagram Live. Entrepreneur and consultant Lauren Rosa Miller joined WFF Co-Founder and Executive Director, LaShelle Franklin, to discuss how to set yourself up for success in college and after graduating by building generational wealth. Two key takeaways from the live stream is one, students should begin now saving money on a monthly basis. No amount is too small and over time can accumulate into a substantial amount. Two, find ways to practice self-care as a way to further invest in themselves. Living a healthy life mentally, physically, and emotionally is an important factor that rewards great dividends in the long run and can contribute to financial success and wellbeing.

Thank you Amber and Lauren!
