Why Every Student Should Get Involved!
UConn offers 400+ clubs and organizations, and there are 30+ student organizations that partner directly with the School of Business to help business students connect with each other. Meet some of your peers and discover how they used these experience to #FindYourUConn.
Strategic engagement beyond the classroom is an important part of your development as a student and professional. In addition to offering the opportunity to network, student organizations strengthen leadership skills, teach time management, and are a great way to build friendships.
Business Major Focused Organizations
Accounting Society
The mission of the Accounting Society is to create a venue for undergraduate students to explore and further their interests in the major of accounting while making connections with other undergraduates and professionals. Students do not need to be an accounting major to join. The Accounting Society partners on events with UConn's Beta Alpha Psi organization.
Beta Alpha Psi
. Beta Alpha Psi is the premier accounting, finance, and MIS honors fraternity at the University of Connecticut. As a chapter, we strive to develop our members into high achieving professionals in their respective business fields. A minimum overall 3.0 GPA is required as well as a minimum 3.0 GPA in their major.
Business Management Society
BMS unites future leaders across campus to forge genuine connections. Members learn business trends through joining in business activities, holding current events discussions, participating in case competitions, and networking in a comfortable setting.
Data Analytics Club
The UConn Data Analytics Club is a student-run organization that provides resources for students interested in business and the field of data analytics. Members will have access to guest speakers and leaders from the industry who are discovering insights, delivering business value, creating innovations using data, recruiting in the field and more. Members will have the opportunity to network with professionals to develop long-lasting relationships that they can benefit from in the future. Members will also have the chance to discuss the latest data technologies, concepts, and trends while learning how data analytics relates to the fields of finance, economics, healthcare, and engineering.
Entrepreneurship Club
Our organization provides students with important knowledge needed to pursue start up business ventures. At UConn, most business clubs seem to be focused on building specific skills needed to get hired for a position at an existing company. We aim to inspire and cultivate the spark within those students who want to create their own businesses. It is very difficult for startups to compete with large existing corporations, that's why it is so crucial to create a club that will encourage students to not be intimidated, and how to carefully and strategically enter into an existing industry.
Finance Society
Through this organization, the executive board and faculty strive to connect the academic and professional lives of members through weekly meetings, stock pitch competitions, conferences, and more. Students gain invaluable knowledge at meetings by engaging with other students, employers, and alumni through current event discussions, the mentorship program, company presentations, panels, career development workshops, and more.
Financial Management Club
An undergraduate and graduate student club that assists students interested in the world of finance, as they prepare for finance careers through sponsorship of career development programs and club relationships with members of the financial community. Our club's mission is to foster an environment among Finance and Business students that encourages continuous learning and discovery of recent trends and developments within the field of investment banking, non-banking corporate finance, and private wealth management.
Healthcare Management Society
The HealthCare Management Society at UConn is a student-run organization that unites undergraduates in the HealthCare Management major or those who have interest in the healthcare industry. Members further their healthcare knowledge by listening to speakers, attending networking events, and participating in discussions about current events.
Information Management Association
The Information Management Association (IMA) at the University of Connecticut is a student-run organization that provides resources for students interested in the field of Information Technology. Our meetings and events involve inviting IT representatives from various industries to speak to students about their company, job prospects in the field, recruitment, informational sessions, resume building, conduct mock interviews, and the art of networking.
Investment Banking Society
The UConn Investment Banking Society is an organization that strives to be the home for UConn’s most motivated and passionate finance professionals. The network base and resources offered by the organization, in conjunction with the experiential learning that is introduced to students from their membership, will provide individuals with a very promising future in investment banking.
Management and Engineering for Manufacturing Society
The purpose of MEM Society shall be to assist in the education and professional development of students interested in management, manufacturing, and engineering. Together the members will support one another to overcome academic challenges. The society will also serve to expose its members to different aspects within the workforce.
Marketing Society
The UConn Marketing Society allows students to learn more about marketing and the different forms of marketing there are in the business world, along with getting to know other members! We have guest speakers come in from different industries including: sports marketing, market research, retail & fashion, social media, brand management, advertising and sales. By having exposure to all of these different industries, our members are able to identify which avenues in marketing best fits their interests.
Real Estate Society
. Through participation in the UCONN Real Estate Society, students will gain industry knowledge through field trips, seminars and meetings with business professionals and alumni, helping to refine their particular interest and knowledge of the industry. Undergraduates will also have the benefit of using the Real Estate Center's personal resume book and job bank, as well as numerous scholarships available exclusively to Real Estate Society members.
Sport Business Association
The UConn SBA is dedicated to providing its members with invaluable first-hand experience in the sport business and entertainment industry along with tremendous opportunities for professional networking. By providing our members with unique opportunities to connect with top sports professionals, gain exclusive access to prominent sports businesses, and gain exclusive access to local sports internships, the SBA properly prepares each member for a career in sports and more.
Business Special Interest Organizations
ASCEND
Ascend is the largest, non-profit Pan-Asian organization for business professionals in North America. We offer robust professional development and career enhancement programs designed to cultivate Pan-Asian talent. In addition, the National Association of Asian MBAs (NAAMBA), Ascend’s national organization for MBA professionals and students, fosters Competent, Committed, Competitive, and Collaborative global MBA leaders to fulfill diverse talent pipelines.
Business Golf Club
The mission of BGC is to connect like-minded students with business professionals on the golf course to promote and improve conversational skills, business expertise, and professionalism. BGC is inclusive of all majors, and ultimately allows students to gain experience with the corporate game that is golf.
Business Leaders of UConn
BLU seeks to empower and advance underrepresented BIPOC students through various distinguished professional opportunities, while creating a strong community for minority students interested in business. The ultimate goal is to equip high-achieving, marginalized students with the skill-set, resources, mentorship, and network to accomplish their career goals.
Creating Economic Opportunities
We are college students with ideas and ambition connecting idea generators and students seeking entrepreneurial experience. We welcome students from ALL majors and backgrounds. C.E.O. believes in the crucial relationship between entrepreneurship and experiential growth, manifesting the visions of both businesses and entrepreneurs through hands on opportunities and immediate exposure to critical social networks.
Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Club
Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Club's mission is to empower our members with practical, hands-on knowledge about cryptocurrencies and the blockchain technology powering these networks. Our members will have access to a weekly newsletter, blog posts, presentations, guest speakers, job opportunities, networking events, and field trips.
UConn Business Professionals- Hartford Campus
Business Professionals, UConn (formerly Hartford Business Society) is an organization that strives to connect like-minded Business students. Students looking to better their career path through involvement around campus. We hold events to bring knowledge and depth to our members aspiring to be Business leaders in the future.
UConn Consulting Group
The UConn Consulting Group was founded on the belief that given the resources and training, students can make a meaningful contribution in any type of setting and achieve their career goals. UCG gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience providing strategy consulting services to UConn organizations, local businesses, and corporations.
UConn DECA
With nearly a 75-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. DECA’s programs and activities have constantly evolved as we use the latest technology and apply cutting edge educational research.
UConn Economic Society
The Society seeks to inspire and empower undergraduate students interested in economics. We hold lecture series, research presentations, networking events, job and internship fairs as well as social events for Economics students. Honors in Business Association
Honors in Business Association (HiBA) is a student-run organization at the University of Connecticut formed jointly between the Honors Program and School of Business.
National Association of Black Accountants
The mission of NABA, Inc. is to address the professional needs of its members and to build leaders that shape the future of the accounting and finance profession with an unfaltering commitment to inspire the same in their successors.
International Business Association
The International Business Association is a student organization that aims to advance the intellectual and professional lives of students interested in international business. Since its inception in Fall 2008, our organization has made efforts to foster global perspectives through the coordination of guest speakers, conferences, case competitions, and social activities.
Waterbury Business Society
The Waterbury Business Society is a business club created with the mission to prepare all students, business majors or not, for life outside of college. The Waterbury Business Society offers networking and internship opportunities, resume building, and a wealth of knowledge on interviewing/job searching. We also teach members how to create a larger digital footprint with their LinkedIn, Handshake, and other online job searching tools.
Women in Business
. The purpose of the organization is to bridge students' professional goals and ambitions with that of personal life. The organization does so by raising awareness of the many issues that women face in the professional business world. More importantly, the organization is to prepare students, especially young women, with a competitive edge and knowledge for success in pursuing future careers through networking opportunities with corporate leaders, panel discussion and workshops.
Women's Finance Association
WFA’s programming incorporates an intensive educational curriculum, exclusive networking opportunities, and corporate presentations to equip high-achieving students with technical skills and resources. Members will have extensive opportunities to directly apply key concepts and skills through highly interactive events and experiential learning. The mission of WFA is to foster a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts and related segments to elevate the role of women in finance.
Women and Minorities in Economics
The mission of this organization is to foster an inclusive environment for students interested in economics, with a focus on women and other underrepresented minorities. WME is an organization dedicated to recruiting more women and minorities in Economics, focusing on their challenges in the field, and connecting them with successful female and minority faculty members and mentors.
Business Social Student Organizations
Alpha Kappa Psi
The nation's first professional business fraternity, AKPsi developed and expanded rapidly in its early years, becoming an international organization on April 18, 1931. Over its 113-year history, AKPsi has grown to be the largest business fraternity in the world, with 332 chapters and over 225,000 initiated members across three countries.
Delta Sigma Pi
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.
