Top 5 tips to get people talking about your association
1. Start with people not platform - Everybody today is trying to solve the social media puzzle. Should we be on Facebook and who's going to Tweet for us? Can we make videos? What should we do on Pinterest and Instagram? Are people still using FourSquare?
Are you working on a "Social Media Strategy?" If so, STOP right now, and start working on a "People Strategy." Ask yourself three simple questions:
Who are my members? Where are my members? Why are they my members? It's not important to do everything and be everywhere. It's important to listen, understand and respond and be where they need you with just the right content at just the right time. If you can do that, your social media (whatever form it takes) will be successful.
2. Provide an experience - It's a proven fact that experience drives conversation. Are you creating touchpoints? Are you giving personalized service and taking every opportunity to connect face to face and let people really have an EXPERIENCE? According to the Keller Fay Group, positive experience drives more conversation than your website, ads, and social media combined! Find a way to provide an experience worth talking about.. and they will! Read more.

Holiday Bonus: Celebrate your successes or share lessons learned
Do you have a success story we can celebrate with you? Need a shoulder to cry on while you share lessons learned from a project that didn't go as planned? We all enjoy hearing what's happening at other organizations in the hope we glean some ideas to implement at our own. There's value in learning what could go wrong, and right.
We're looking for several association executives willing to tell their stories to the WSAE audience during the 2014 Holiday Event in Madison. We're not asking for a full hour, just 20 minutes to share your story.
Our members tell us that the most valuable benefit of WSAE is learning from peers. And that can't happen without you! Help make it happen at this year's Holiday Event.
Contact Michelle Czosek to submit your presentation idea.
