Experiencing nature - whether exploring the intricacies of a dandelion in your backyard or staring up at a massive tree in an old-growth forest - is proven to be good for your health in a variety of ways. This week we'll explore Millbrook Marsh with educators from the nature center on Sunday, August 28 at 1 and 3 p.m. and Thursday, September 1 at 10 a.m. Also on Sunday, Michelle Rogan will lead breathwork and meditation sessions. Check out the complete schedule for the week below.

Plan an adventure along the boardwalk at Millbrook Marsh to discover the unique ecologic and historical features of the marsh and surrounding property. Whether you are a birdwatcher, toddler, student, or retiree - a walk along the boardwalk will offer relaxation and education, as well as an appreciation for the work these wetlands and organizations are doing to protect our region’s waterways and communities today and generations from now.

Sunday, August 28
1 pm and 3 pm:
Guided walks along the boardwalk and trails at Millbrook Marsh
🐸 Experts with Millbrook Marsh will lead educational explorations along the boardwalk as participants learn about the area’s history and the plants and animals working together to keep the ecosystem healthy and balanced. This adventure is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Between 1 pm and 4 pm:
🧘🏾‍♀️☮ Intro to Meditation & Breathwork with Michelle Rogan:
Michelle has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and is a certified yoga instructor and certified Level 1 and 2 reiki practitioner. She is MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) trained through Jon Kabat- Zinn’s program through the University of Massachusetts and has taught meditation and breathwork techniques to Penn State Students via Meditation Mondays and a guided meditation walk through the lovely Altoona campus. She uses the tools she will teach you in this very special workshop daily to enhance her well-being and healing.

Thursday, September 1

  • 👖 Bug spray and/or long pants and sleeves for insect and tick protection
  • 🦯 Walking stick or hiking pole if needed
  • 🎒 Child carrying pack for young children
  • 🕒 0 minute drive from State College
  • 🐕 Pets on a leash are welcome
  • 📅 Yes, this destination is open to the public all year
Sunday, September 4 at 1 and 3 p.m.

Stroll along the Lower (pronounced lau-er) Trail and keep an eye out for rare bird species in this important migratory bird area with beautiful vistas. Visitors are welcome to bring their bikes to experience more of the rail trail. Originally a tow path for the Pennsylvania Main Line Canal, the trail has been transformed into a community treasure by the dedication of Rails to Trails of Central Pennsylvania Inc. Visitors are welcome to bring their bikes to experience more of the rail trail following the hikes.
Have a ball supporting ClearWater during Golf-Fest!

During ClearWater Conservancy’s Annual Golf-Fest, everyone has a chance to win big during the Golf Ball Drop sponsored by Best Line Equipment!

On August 29 at Mountain View Country Club, 1,000 numbered golf balls will be dropped from a bucket truck, and the person whose number lands closest to the pin wins $1,000! Second place wins $300 and third wins $200, plus other prizes will also be awarded.

To enter, purchase golf balls online - 5 golf balls for $20. Only 1,000 golf balls will be sold! You need not be present to win and the drop will be livestreamed via Facebook. Thank you for supporting ClearWater Conservancy!
