What's happening this week at St. Paul's

August 6-12, 2023

Upcoming Events & News

New Directory: The directory is ready! Copies will be available in the Narthex to pick up throughout the month.

Discretionary Fund: This Sunday the loose plate offering (gifts not designated for pledges, building, etc.) will be deposited into the Rector’s Discretionary Fund. Fr. Jim uses this fund to assist people who come to our church in need of help, to purchase items for the Community Meals as needed, and to support charitable causes.

Rector’s Discretionary Fund: The Rector’s Discretionary Fund will continue to be used to support our Community Meals while Fr. Jim is on sabbatical. In addition, money will be sent to a local social service agency where we will refer people who come to St. Paul’s for assistance with their rent or utilities. Our Senior Warden, Hayes Olson, is also authorized to draw from this account to provide assistance to members of St. Paul’s who are in need. Your continued support is appreciated.

Pub Theology: Pub Theology will be Thursday, August 10th at 6:00pm at Tavolo’s. All are welcome to come to enjoy friendship, discussion, and delicious food.

Coffee Hour: After the service, everyone is invited to the Parish House (two lefts at the bottom of the steps) for refreshments and fellowship. We promise you will still be able to beat the Baptists and Methodists to lunch afterwards.

Bible Study: Kristian Ameigh is leading a bible study that began on Sunday, July 9th at 2pm. Material will be obtained from The Gospel According to Improv by Les Carpenter; you are not required to purchase the book to attend the study.

Potluck Pool Party: How are you all coming with our Summer Assignment from Fr. Jim? Not as well as we should have? Here is our chance! Steve and Amanda Stalker will host a St. Paul’s Potluck Pool Party, and all we have to do is bring at least one friend or neighbor who does not attend St. Paul’s! Let’s show our friends and neighbors a wonderful time with an old-fashioned St. Paul’s pool party. Yes, I said old fashioned. These started back in the 70’s with our Mom and Dad, every Sunday afternoon. It will be August 13th from after church until 5-ish. ONLY 1 Requirement: Bring someone who does not attend St. Paul’s & their kids if any. Hamburgers and hotdogs provided, bring whatever else you want (for the potluck) and BYOB! -Steve & Amanda Stalker, Suzanne Magouyrk and Kristian Ameigh.

Blessing Box: Donations for non-perishable food items are needed for our Blessing Box, previously known as the Little Library. Foods that are ready to eat and pop top items are suggested. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Lector Signup: There will be a signup sheet in the Narthex for members to sign up to be a lector for the 10:30 services in the fall; you can also contact Sarah Harmon to be added to the list. Training will be held after Labor Day before rotation begins.

Bishop Candidate Voting: Please contact our delegates, Jon Healey and Nikki Bittle, about any opinions you may have about the upcoming voting for the new Bishop. If you do not have their contact information, please call Katie at the office.

St. Paul’s Prayer List:

Prayer requests will stay on the Parish Prayer List for four weeks with the exception of parishioners with ongoing needs. If you wish a prayer request to remain on the list, please call the office to renew the request.
