Hiring Childcare Providers

Apply by Sunday, August 6

We are delighted to be seeking out two Childcare Providers at UUC!

Those who work with our youngest community members are instrumental in providing a strong foundation in what it means to be a part of a loving and supportive church community. We are looking for people who enjoy working with children, are reliable, and enthusiastic about cultivating a safe, fun, and caring environment for children on Sunday mornings and at church events. These care providers will make it possible to comprehensively include families with children of all ages in the community life of this congregation. [Continue reading]

No Gateway or Worship Service Next Week

A quick reminder that there will be no Gateway newsletter on Friday, August 4, and no worship service on Sunday, August 6, because the church will be closed for our Staff Appreciation Week. (See article below)

Annual Family Ministry Art Exhibit

Exhibit opens Sunday, July 30, in the chapel

We’re all excited about the opening of the annual UUC Family Ministry Art Exhibit on Sunday, July 30! Look for a variety of pieces using different media expressing the ideas of our children and youth. Most of the art has been created during our two Chalice Camp sessions this summer, but some was created during Our Whole Lives, Coming of Age, and youth events.

There will be an opportunity to meet and greet the young artists during a Coffee Hour Reception that same morning. [Continue reading]

Claim Lost Items by July 30

Personal items have been left in the church kitchen, and a variety of other personal belongings have found their way into UUC’s Lost & Found over the past few months.

All of these are now available for owners to pick up in the Channing Room. Please ask a custodian or staff member to let you in to see if what you have lost has now been found.

Items left unclaimed after July 30 will be moved along, according to their usefulness elsewhere.

Staff Appreciation Week

July 31–August 6 (Monday–Sunday)

Our UUC staff members individually and as a team have stretched, adapted, and repeatedly gone above and beyond—especially over the past 3+ years. Their commitment and effort is no small gift to all of us! As a humble gesture of thanks, the Board (at its May meeting) unanimously and gladly supported a week off during the summer for staff. [Continue reading]

Care Team Asks "How Can We Help You?"

The UUC Care Team serves people in the UUC community when they encounter illness, grief, medical events, and other life issues. We all need a little help sometimes. If you find yourself needing a listening ear or a little help, please email the Care Team or leave a message on our confidential voicemail at (206) 454-7722. We are trained lay volunteers. We check for messages twice daily and keep your information confidential.

IN THE LARGER COMMUNITY

East Shore Outdoors

[Editor's note: Our fellow UUs across the lake at East Shore Unitarian Church (Bellevue) have an Outdoors group. Here is their article from the July 23, 2023 East Shore Unitarian Church enewsletter. The leaders of the group have told me they would be happy to have UUCers join them on their outings.]

As the better weather approaches, many of us want to get outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Pacific Northwest. You can do that, and contribute to building community at East Shore, by participating in walks and hikes organized by the East Shore Outdoors group. [Continue reading]
