CEO Only Event:
Your Role in Shaping Your Association's Culture

Speakers: Maddie Grant and Jamie Notter
Key trends, like generational shift and the social media revolution, are putting pressure on associations to make significant changes to their existing cultures. In this CEO-only session, we'll dig into the unique challenges and responsibilities CEOs have in growing, nurturing and changing culture within their organizations, especially in light of disruptive changes happening in the workplace. Authors Jamie Notter and Maddie Grant will present some frameworks they developed in their book Humanize that help make sense of new and emerging business environments. We'll follow up with a thoughtful discussion about what this means for you, the CEO. Come prepared for a frank and thought-provoking discussion about the new behaviors, new areas of focus, and even new ways of thinking required of CEOs who want to intentionally shape the culture of their organizations and workplaces.
(This session is open to association CEOs only and requires an additional registration fee. A copy of Grant and Notter's book, Humanize is included.)

On the Offense:
Your Organization's Culture Could Use a Turnover

Speakers: Maddie Grant and Jamie Notter
If the pace of change has gone through the roof, then why are we all still operating within organizational cultures that haven't changed in decades? We struggle to manage important trends like generational shift and the social media revolution, while failing to recognize that our cultures may be standing in our way of progress. In this session, association thought leaders and authors Jamie Notter and Maddie Grant will help you understand how today's pressures are demanding important changes in the way we lead and manage our associations. Drawing from research and lessons outlined in their book, Humanize, Notter and Grant will dig into the important elements of culture that need strengthening and provide guidance on how to manage culture change (nothing traumatic, and maybe even without calling it culture change!). Participants in the session will complete a brief culture assessment and learn how to bring their own association cultures "up to code."

Building a Championship Organization

Join us for American Associations Day
Wisconsin Congressman Mark Pocan
to receive ASAE Sentinel Award

American Associations Day will take place March 25-26 in Washington, DC. Association executives from around the country will spend two days advocating for the issues that impact the entire community, including nonprofit status, tax reform, health care, government travel to meetings, and more.

Plus, be there to congratulate Wisconsin Congressman Mark Pocan as he receives the ASAE Sentinel award for his work championing the value of association meeting attendance by federal employees. Through the work of Rep. Pocan and his staff, an amendment was added to the bill that would soften the limitations on conference attendance.

There is no cost to attend the event. Additionally, a scholarship is available for attendees from outside the DC-metro area. If you are interested in participating, please email Mary Kate Cunningham or call 202-626-2787. visit the fly-in website.

Innovation Techniques
for the Association Leader

March 27, 2014
hosted by the Association Forum of Chicagoland

Chicagoland Innovation offers opportunities for associations to stay ahead of the needs of your members. But what kind of innovation is appropriate, particularly in an environment where resources are scarce? Traditional project management processes or research and development don't leverage the unique strengths of associations. Successful innovation will require different relationships with stakeholders and different management approaches to ensure continuous innovation.

This workshop focuses on the leadership and strategies to get big things done with limited internal resources. You will explore different ways of sharing information to get buy in and then leverage that buy in to adapt faster and more broadly. Participants will learn how lessons learned from other organizations can help inspire commitment to accomplishing goals.

WSAE members may attend at the Association Forum of Chicagoland member rate.
