Annual Volunteer Summer Celebration

July 5th was a day to thank our volunteers at our annual Volunteer Summer Celebration picnic! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our volunteer team and celebrate the 40,000+ hours of support they provided last year.

You can read more about the day on our website. Thank you to everyone that came out for an afternoon of fun, food, games and music. We couldn’t do what we do without your care and dedication!

Are you interested in joining our fantastic team of volunteers? We have a volunteer opportunity for everyone! Visit our website to learn more and submit an application!

CCCKL's Annual General Meeting

On June 28th, Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes and our Community Care Foundation held our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This AGM provided an opportunity for us to reflect on our program milestones and financial achievements from the previous year and to hear from our 2022-2023 Chairs. We also presented our Annual Report at this meeting, which celebrates the successes of our programs and services and provides detailed financial highlights for both Community Care and our Foundation.

We also have some changes to our Boards of Directors. We are pleased to announce that Carol Roffey and Frank Morris have joined our Community Care Board. On our Foundation Board, we are also pleased to announce that Erin Attard, Steve Strangway and Jim Mackey have joined our Foundation Board members.

Please join us in welcoming all new members to our Boards of Directors!

With these changes, we also said goodbye to Anne Overhoff, Linda Coles, Kerry Clifford and Mark Mitchell from our Boards. They have all helped shaped the vision of CCCKL and have been key in supporting the sustainability of our programs and services. Please join us in thanking Anne, Linda, Kerry and Mark for their many years of dedication and service to CCCKL!

Our current Board of Directors list for CCCKL and our Foundation is available on our website. You can also view and download our 2022/23 Annual Report.

CCCKL Around Town

Summer is in full swing and there have been many events around Kawartha Lakes for our community to enjoy! Our banner, booth and vans have been making appearances all over Kawartha Lakes at some of these events and we’ve been able to meet with many members of our community to share information about the programs and services we offer.

We were fortunate to attend the Fresh Water Summit in Coboconk, Pride Day in Fenelon Falls, and Classics on Kent in Lindsay. Keep an eye out for our booth at more events this summer!

Senior Awareness Event

Join us on October 25, 2023 for our Senior Awareness Event at the Lindsay Legion, located at 12 York Street North. Topics of discussion will include types of abuse, power of attorney, internet security, and more! A free light lunch will also be provided.

Space is limited! Call 705-879-4112 to reserve your spot.

A Furry Friend Visits the Fenelon Falls Adult Day Program

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to CCCKL volunteer Guy Poliquin for sharing his therapy dog, Nala, with our Fenelon Falls Adult Day Program clients.

Nala is a St. John’s certified therapy dog, which means she is trained to visit hospitals, seniors’ residences, nursing homes, and more. Through petting, affection, and regular visitation, many people benefit both physically and emotionally from the unconditional love of a dog. Nala joins Guy on Tuesdays for his volunteer shift at the ADP program in Fenelon Falls and provides joy, comfort and companionship to the clients she meets.

Thank you Guy and Nala for the joy you bring to our ADP clients!

Community Care Foundation Update

Welcome to this update from the Community Care Foundation. Our Mission is to help to build healthy communities across Kawartha Lakes by raising funds to support Community Care's range of services.

Is your local business or organization interested in raising money for charity? We call this third party fundraising! They are an independent event, program, or initiative undertaken and executed by a corporation, local business, community organization, or individual for the purpose of raising funds in support of a charity like us! Third Party Fundraising is an essential ingredient in helping CCCKL ensure that no one gets left behind and that everyone has access to care and services that improve their health and independence.

To host a Third Party Fundraiser, please email The Foundation at foundation@ccckl.ca or give us a call at 705-324-7323 ext. 164.

Thank you for your support!
