This Sunday, February 27 Venus conjuncts the Moon in the sign of Capricorn which marks the Gate of Authority in the Venus Cycle. This sweeps the way for this month’s New Moon in 13 Pisces on Wednesday, Mar 2 at 12:35 pm Eastern. This New Moon degree in Pisces sums up a few of the strong Capricorn themes present in the sky, including our relationship to inner and outer authority as noted in the Venus Cycle.

The New Moon Chandra symbol “A woman imprisoned in a high tower” symbolizes the old, tired story of Earth as a place that holds us captive while our liberated soul has flown free. It etches into the heart, a certain pain of separation and the paradoxical states we can get caught in. The fairy tale drama captures the places of paralysis where we fear what it means to surrender to higher spiritual authority and the power of accepting individual responsibility for bringing our values, ideals and visions out into the world.

It begs the question:
Can our pent-up longing to free ourselves from whatever we experience as captivity (and, all the places we get caught inside ourselves) be the exact fuel we need to make some evolutionary gain that’s been having a hard time coming?

This Sunday (2.27) Venus conjuncts the Moon marking the Gate of Authority in the Venus Cycle. Through the Sumerian story of Inanna, this is the time where she finds her inner authority and kicks off a powerful journey of self-initiation. By following the love in her heart, she defies the advice of all her friends and family and chooses to take the journey into the Underworld. She doesn't do this as an act of rebellion, but as an act to free her own soul from bondage by prioritizing her love for that which has been banished.

Happening in the sign of Capricorn (where Venus/Mars/Pluto also conjunct on March 3/4), this Pisces New Moon is apt to help us find our maturity in situations that have been previously polarized. Here's a little something from last year’s Soul Level Salon where Mark shares about the Capricorn stretch which feels especially applicable right now.
“It's only by stretching all the way into both (high consciousness/human dilemma) that Capricorn can ever fully arrive in its most mature fashion. That's the message of the sea goat.

And, it doesn't matter if you're 90 years old, you're a very vulnerable confused little kid. You don't outgrow that. You can't outgrow being human. But you're not just this vulnerable confused little kid. You're also this high-minded idealism. You are also capable of incredible insight. You're also capable of great advancements. And, tremendous awakening. 

And so Capricorn is the stretch between the two. Can you stretch? How do you stretch from the deepest darkest crap that you want to get out of and never have to deal with it again? How do you live in that? How do you authentically embody that while keeping that high-minded awakening evolving and enlightened part of you? That's the karma yoga stretch of Capricorn.”

Yes. The karma yoga stretch of Capricorn might feel like it's breaking us in two during this time. Taking a breath of life-giving-love at the breaking point, can be a simple way to appreciate that the love might not have been able to land right there in any other way.
