Save the Dates: Georgia and New Hampshire 

On March 22, Georgia Tech and BEL are co-hosting the “Georgia Electrification Summit” in Atlanta, Georgia. This is the first electrification event of the new year. You can find the agenda and details here.

On May 18, BEL is holding the New England Electrification Leadership Summit at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Keep an eye out for details here. 

Electrifying U.S. fertilizer production  

BEL has received funding for an effort supporting the electrification of ammonia production, a process using electricity instead of natural gas. (Here is a first peek at the details.) This project aims to lay the groundwork for a consortium of organizations, including utilities, to increase awareness about use cases and, more broadly, the potential economic and environmental benefits of electrifying ammonia production. 

BEL's CO-GRIP proposal advances

The Department of Energy’s Grid Deployment Office has invited BEL to submit a full proposal in response to the concept paper submitted in December. Thanks to the many utilities whose participation is, no doubt, a big part of why we are now advancing. BEL’s concept, titled the “Community-Owned Grid Resilience and Innovation Program” (“CO-GRIP”) aims to broaden access to smart grid funds by aggregating eligible projects of local community-based electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, and a tribal utility authority.
