Remembering our Folklorama family
Dr. Rayleen De Luca - C. Psych., C.M., O.M., Past President
Rayleen De Luca was born in Shawinigan, Quebec in 1942 but spent most of her life living in Winnipeg. She devoted her career to the care of children starting with her own family and then professionally achieving a doctorate in the field of Psychology focusing on children and their mental health well-being. Committed to the Scientist-Practitioner model of clinical psychology, she became recognized as one of Canada's foremost researchers for her pioneering work in the area of child sexual abuse. Her publications have been translated into many languages and her research in the area of child abuse and family violence has been coined "groundbreaking". As a professor at the University of Manitoba in the Department of Psychology, Rayleen was the first woman to hold the position of Director of Clinical Training. Rayleen was active in countless community organizations including Folklorama and the Board of Directors leading as President in 2012 and 2013. Nominated as a Canadian representative to the United Nations - Status of Women Committee, she was not afraid to speak out for injustices and enabled others by virtue of her involvement with them. Rayleen was a tireless advocate and inspiration for/to women and was rewarded with many awards both academically and professionally, and for her volunteerism.

Our deepest sympathies to Vincent and their entire family.

We will always remember those that are now longer with us, and keep their service and passion for the mission of Folklorama close to our hearts.
