Accreditation Newsletter - Volume 3
AVC Faculty, Greetings!

The eight-month plan (September 1, 2021 – April 30, 2022) per our timeline to work on the first draft of the ISER is on point! Currently, each team leader and its members have begun to upload the ISER narratives and pieces of evidence to SharePoint for the first draft of the ISER. This draft makes it easier for the Standard Teams and others in the College community to identify more content, additional evidential documents, analyze and evaluate how the College meets those Standards or sub-Standards. These are meant to bolster our story for the final draft of the
ISER.

Hence, I am glad to inform you that our first draft of the ISER draft will be ready by the end of May, at the latest. However, the work on the ISER will continue through November 2022.

This ISER draft will guide the Committee's decisions on the Quality Focused Essay (QFE) development this spring/summer semester. Many thanks to Prof. Charles Hood (English Dept.), who has excellently put the AVC History together.

I attended a 2-day virtual Accreditation Institute by the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC) held from February 25-26. The institute allowed me to learn more about the process of Accreditation and the best practices within ACCJC and other California Community Colleges. I continue to give Accreditation updates to the Academic Senate, the most recent being on March 17.

On March 24, from 1-2 PM, the Accreditation Committee and some members of the Admin Council attended a virtual Advanced Training with Dr. Gohar Momjian, the AVC ACCJC Staff Liaison. The training was also enriching, and I am happy to tell you that AVC is in the right direction of getting our draft of the ISER ready.

The Accreditation Committee will continue to meet monthly, working on the ISER draft, while Accreditation Work Session 4 will be either end of May or early June. Furthermore, the Standard Teams will continue to meet through October-November 2022, depending on the ISER's progress and what is needed for the final draft. Our Accreditation Training/Workshops in collaboration with Dr. Alex Parisky will also continue based on needs.

There is still room for us to feature stories of the fantastic work you do in your disciplines, departments, and divisions to help fill gaps or aid student success and retention. So, share those data-supported narratives with the Accreditation Committee (AC) via email to madebayoige@avc.edu and any questions about the accreditation process.

AVC's Accreditation process continues to progress as planned.

Thank you for your participation,
