Did You Get Your VLCT.ORG Login Credentials?

You should have received an email from VLCT yesterday, 3/27, with your individual username. Starting this Thursday, 3/30, you will need to use that information to log in to the Municipal Access Portal.


New Website and Municipal Access Portal (MAP) Launches on 3/30

Any Vermont municipal official or staff member who does not receive emails from VLCT with their login credentials will need to create their account after 3/30 to gain access to all vlct.org content.


Classified Ad Submissions Closed Until Launch

Classified ads posted between 3/20 and 3/24 are being uploaded into the new website. Any earlier posting that is still an open position will need to be added after 3/30.


Opioids Settlement: Your Action Required by 4/18

To ensure that Vermont receives the maximum share of the most recent opioids settlement funding, towns must, by 4/18, execute and return the settlement papers that were emailed to them by the National Opioids Settlements claims administrator. Every city and town in Vermont has the option to receive the funding directly or have their share sent to the statewide Opioid Abatement Fund.


Report 2022 ARPA Info by 4/30

NEUs are required to submit a Project and Expenditure Report (P&E Report) for their local ARPA awards by 4/30 of every year through 2027. The 2023 P&E Report will be in Treasury’s online portal on 4/1.

Grants for Smart Policing Initiatives

The U.S. Department of Justice will award 10 grants nationwide for innovative and evidence-based policing practices, more effective information sharing, and multiagency collaboration. Develop and test technologies like crowdsourcing portals and social network analysis, work with social service and community-based partners on violence intervention, or use innovative solutions to overcome common law enforcement issues. Apply by 5/1.


UI Wage Reports Due 4/28

Only a month remains for members in VLCT's Unemployment Insurance program to complete their 2022 wage reports and send them to Kelley Avery.


Summer Internships Return to VLCT!

Graduate students as well as college juniors and seniors have an opportunity to serve and strengthen Vermont local government through VLCT's 2023 ten-week paid internship program, which runs 5/29 to 8/11. Applications due Friday, 4/28.

Cybersecurity Trainings for Government and School Officials

Vermont Emergency Management is hosting two free trainings suitable for schools, community leaders, municipal employees, law enforcement, fire departments, emergency management, and more. The four-hour Essentials of Community Cybersecurity is on 4/25, and the 12-hour Community Preparedness for Cyber Incidents is on 4/25 and 4/26; both in Waterbury.


FREE Apprenticeships for Broadband Installer Technicians

To expand the reach of broadband throughout Vermont, the Vermont Community Broadband Board is partnering with the Vt Department of Labor and Vermont Tech at locations across the state to help people start a career as a maintenance technician, splicer, or installer. The first training starts in April.
