Lord, we are from you. And to you, we return.
Merciful and Compassionate Father, thank you for this special day. Today is Ash Wednesday. As we begin this Season of Lent, with contrite heart and humble spirit, we recognize our sinfulness and unworthiness in your presence. The ash placed on our foreheads reminds us that we are human and fragile. That no one lives forever here on earth. That everyone of us, at a certain point time and place, has to leave this earth. In the shortness our life, grant us wisdom that we may use wisely all that you have given to each one of us. Most of all, may we use them for the betterment of others and for the salvation of our souls not for its distraction. May this Lenten Season be once again an opportunity and occasion to amend our lives to be better and better Christians.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
St. Agnes of Bohemia, pray for us.
