Annual Earth Day Festival is Back at Alameda Park

After a three-year hiatus, the Community Environmental Council’s annual Earth Day Festival is back at Alameda Park on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30. This free, City-sponsored event will feature live music, food & drink, a green car show, and a wide variety of regional organizations. Visit the City's booth in the Public Square to learn about our many sustainability programs and local resources.

City Hall Open House is May 17


Get a behind the scenes look at City operations on Wednesday, May 17. Learn about our efforts to create a pathway toward smart government at our City Hall Open House. Take a tour of Council Chambers, Touch-a-Truck, play games and meet City Councilmembers. It’s free and family-friendly with entertainment and treats for the kids (while supplies last).

Winter and Spring Turf Renovations and Irrigation Upgrades Completed


Work to improve the safety and function of turf at Alameda Park, Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden, and Chase Palm Park wraps up this week, and the temporary fencing installed to protect the turf will be removed. Parks and Recreation staff will begin work on athletic field turf renovations before moving to Oak Park, Stevens Park, La Mesa Park, and Mission Historical Park this fall.

Celebrate National Library Week


Celebrate National Library Week with the Library, April 23-29, with a week-long series of events to enjoy. Local businesses are participating in a campaign, the Library on the Go van will be at Shalhoobs for happy hour and there's a special trivia night and open house scheduled.

National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.

Webinar Recording and Survey Available for Lower Eastside Community Connectivity Active Transportation Plan


As part of the Lower Eastside Community Connectivity Active Transportation Planning Effort, the City held a webinar and in-person meeting at the beginning of the month to share design options for a new pedestrian and bicycle U.S. Highway 101 overcrossing between the Lower Eastside and Dwight Murphy Field.
