Rainy Days Call for Mosquito Prevention

As the rain subsides, add a crucial task to your post-rain checklist: inspect and remove standing water. With many items collecting water over the weekend, please ensure that drains are clear of debris and please empty containers, potted plant trays, trash, or yard items holding water. Standing water can become an unsuspected mosquito breeding ground if left for too long. Since mosquitoes take about a week to mature from larvae to adults, remember to empty water weekly or use fine sand/gravel to deter them. Getting rid of mosquito-breeding sites is critical to lowering the number of mosquitoes in our community.

Upcoming Aerial Larvicide Application

This method is an essential part of the County Vector Control Program's commitment to protecting both community and environment in areas where manual treatment isn't feasible. The granular larvicides used acts specifically on mosquito larvae and will not harm people, pets, plants, or wildlife.
