Happy April, WTS Members and Friends! I hope you are enjoying the beautiful spring weather we’ve been blessed with. Remember, this is Texas, so it won’t last long!!
I am looking forward to our Lattes & Leadership Event later this month and our Diversity Event in early May. I hope to see you all there as we continue our candid and intimate conversations about issues and challenges we face in our lives and on the job.
Our Annual Awards & Scholarship Banquet is less than a month away. The banquet is one of our hallmark events for the chapter and the money we raise helps to support our programs, events and scholarships. I promise you will have a great time networking, dining and celebrating with our award winners and your colleagues while supporting a great cause. If you haven’t played Heads-or-Tails with us, you’ve been missing out! We are working hard to finalize registration and headcounts for the venue. If you haven’t registered or signed up as a banquet sponsor yet, time is running out. We are also looking for donations to feature in our raffle. If you or your company are interested in donating an item for the raffle, please reach out to Committee Co-Chairs, Gwen Jurisich or Lani Marshall.
There is still time to register for the 2022 WTS International Conference – Mapping Transportation for All, happening May 18–20 in Seattle, WA. If you plan on attending, please let George Cisneros know so we can add you to the list for our Chapter Dinner on Wednesday.
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Distracted driving can lead to lives forever changed and lives forever lost. I encourage you to watch the powerful documentary ‘Sidetracked’ produced by Houston Police and sponsored by AAA Texas to better understand how distracted drivers changed the lives of four families. Remember: “Don’t Drive Intoxicated – Don’t Drive Intexticated."
Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. I look forward to seeing all of you at one of our upcoming events. Until then, continue to stay safe, take care of yourself and respect each other.
