2022-2023 Academic Year Guidance from SEVP

Contrary to what we sent as anticipated Fall 2022 Guidance on 4/1, NOTHING will be changing for the 2022-2023 Academic Year.

Academic Year 2022-23 Course Requirements

STARTING FALL 2022 TERM

  • As stated in the March 2020 guidance, Active F and M students will be permitted to temporarily count online classes toward a full course of study in excess of the regulatory limits stated in 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(f)(6)(i)(G) and 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(m)(9)(v) for the 2022-23 academic year. The March 2020 guidance applies to continuing F and M nonimmigrant students.

What it means:

  • Current F-1 students may again take a hybrid or fully online course schedule for Academic Year 2022-23

  • NEW FALL 2022 F-1 students MUST take 1 face to face/flexible delivery class for Fall 2022

Email Etiquette for Students

Emails are the most common form of communication used by professors. It is necessary that you write your emails professionally and communicate all the necessary information in one email.

Here are some tips to write an appropriate email:

  • Use a clear subject line. Add the class name and section number in your subject line. For example - "ENG 2100-90 Assignment 1"
  • Use your Wright State's email address
  • Begin your email with a salutation and use the appropriate titles for your professor. For Example- Write "Dear Professor John" instead of "Hey John".
  • Make sure you use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation in your emails.
  • Keep your email short and to the point.
  • Utilize a professional tone. Avoid using negative or disrespectful tones like, "I can't believe you gave me an F on the test!"
  • Avoid using internet language like lol, brb, etc. Do not use emojis unless appropriate!
  • Re-read your emails to make sure that the tone and content are correct.
  • End the email with a sign-off and your name. You can use something like - "Best", or "Thank You" and write your name.
  • After sending your email, make sure you allow them enough time to respond to your emails. Depending on what days or times you sent your email, it can take them from 24-48 hours to respond to your email.

Campus Recreation: Colorado High Mountain Backpacking

Date: July 30- Aug 07

Explore the mountains in the San Juan Wilderness as we backpack 24 miles of this beautiful and challenging landscape. In some of the most exemplary backpacking in Colorado, we will find high peaks and cliffs, as well as jagged pinnacles and ragged ridges. This route is considered very challenging with a significant elevation gain of 4,000 feet in the first 8 miles. Once above tree-line, we will witness sweeping views and magnificent openness. Perhaps catch a peak at a wild sheep, elk, coyote or marmot, or enjoy the quiet peace of the wilderness. Whether your goal is to challenge yourself, meet new friends, or enjoy the peace of nature, this trip is for you.

Cost: $499, $100 deposit required to register with remained of cost $399 due one month before trip departure.

Activity Level: Intermediate/Strenuous. Participants do not need prior backpacking but must be physically fit. Participants should be able to carry a 40lbs backpack for up to 8 miles while gaining elevation a day. *Must pass our fitness test of completing two miles with a 40 lb on an inclined treadmill in one hour*
