The Chamber welcomes Teresa Ringo

Teresa Ringo has been named Coordinator of First Impressions at the Walker County Chamber of Commerce. Teresa will be greeting members and other visitors, answering phones, assist with office calendaring, helps with incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining the reception area, and will perform other administrative tasks as needed. She is the first person you will see as you enter the Chamber of Commerce.   

Teresa graduated from Richards High School in 1985 and began her 37 year career with Sam Houston State University shortly after graduation. She earned a Bachelor of Business degree as well as a Master of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University. She retired from Sam Houston State University in January 2021. Please join us in welcoming Teresa to the Chamber.

Bearkat Kickoff is SHSU’s official freshman welcome week program.

This program will be for all first-time freshmen. Sam Houston State University expects a freshman class of over 3,000 which will bring more opportunities for local business. Normally those students would come during the traditional “move in weekend” around August 18-20, however, this year, move in for the first-time freshman will be a week earlier than normal: August 11-13, 2023.

Thanks to the Boys & Girls Club of Walker County for sponsoring the February Chamber Business After Hours. The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Walker County is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Chief Executive Officer Michelle Spencer shared, “We are celebrating 20 years of service to the youth of Huntsville and Walker County by enriching the lives of over 6500 youth ages 5-18 in direct services and more than 17,000 youth in community outreach totaling over 2 million hours of impact!
