Dear Residents -
As part of the larger New York City community, where many of our residents are employed as first responders (NYPD, FDNY and EMS), we mourn the deaths of two of New York’s Finest, PO Jason Rivera and PO Wilbert Mora. Both of these young men died too young and well before their time. Tragically, this was followed up days later with the deaths of three firefighters in Baltimore City and a Harris County Deputy. I offer up my thoughts and prayers to the families of each and every one of these brave souls and hope that they can find a little peace in knowing that they died heroes while doing a job they loved.
Beginning on Monday, January 31, 2022, the children's playground at Veteran's Memorial Park will be out of service. A demolition crew will remove the old playground and prepare the area for the installation of a new, all-inclusive playground. If mother nature cooperates, we eagerly anticipate a grand opening in the spring. Stay tuned for more information!
My last look at the weather has Orangetown receiving anywhere from 4" to 8" (Hudson Valley Weather). We have been here before. If possible, stay home and make soup (or bake cookies), curl up on the couch with a good book, watch a movie marathon or do a puzzle. And please try to stay off the roads so that our Highway Department can do their job.
Enjoy your weekend and, next time you get the opportunity, thank a police officer, firefighter, paramedic or any first responder for all that they do every day to keep us safe.
Stay safe!
Respectfully,
