Semester Start-Up

Buff Branding

The Freshman class of 2026 enjoyed a luncheon and faculty introductions during the Buff Branding 2022 event.

Students were directed, by major, to either the Natural Sciences Building or the WTAMU Bain Event Center Building at the Ag Complex.

At each location, students met and talked with faculty and upperclassmen students

in their majors.

Between both locations, there were about 400 total students who were hosted for lunch!

First Friday Festival

The First Friday Festival was held on Friday, August 26, for students to get connected! Students from all departments were welcome to come and enjoy all the event had to offer. The event hosted a sunrise workout, chalk art, lunch, and music, a tie-dye party, a pool party, food trucks, corn-hole and spike-ball competitions, a movie at the stadium, and a maroon meet-up at midnight!

Dr. Landry Lockett, Part-Time Instructor of Ag Leadership, and members of his AGRI*2300, Personal and Professional Leadership Development, section participated in the chalk art. Go WT AG!

Drawing by Kassidy Langley, So. Plant, Soil, and Environmental Sciences. Great job!

Back-to-school Extravaganza!

The Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences hosted the 4th annual Back-to-School Extravaganza on Tuesday, August 30.

The event highlighted student organizations in the college and allowed students to gather, eat, brand a board with their anticipated graduate date, hang out and meet new people!

The event was very successful and hosted close to 600 attendees.

Megan Eckhardt, Panelist

American Meat Science Association

The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) hosted a quarterly student-led webinar for fellow AMSA student members. Megan Eckhardt, Ph.D. Agriculture, served

as a panelist on this webinar, aiming to provide students tips and information

for applying and securing internships based on her own experiences.

Numerous AMSA members from across the nation

attending various colleges and universities sat in on the webinar.

The goal for this event was to allow selected student panelists to give their testimonies about their internship experiences, as well as highlight other possibilities and opportunities in various sectors of the meat industry. Attending students were able to ask questions and gain valuable information and tips for securing and successfully completing

internships from the panelists.

William Norwood

B.S. Environmental Science

William Norwood and Dr. Colaizzi working on an Experimental Plot.

William completed an internship at the USDA-Agricultural Research Services (ARS) Conservation and Production Research Laboratory (CPRL) in Bushland, TX. While interning, William learned skills in remote sensing installations for environmental monitoring, governmental research procedures for quality control and assurance of data management, and statistical modeling utilizing Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) software. William's capstone project with the USDA-ARS CPRL is on calculating crop evapotranspiration from vegetated surfaces using infrared thermometers for crop water-use efficiency,

an essential component of sustainable agriculture.

William's advice to students pursuing an Environmental Science degree:

"Learn and experience the different environmental sciences opportunities

on and off campus to help guide you in your career path."

This past Friday we celebrated the awarding

of over $500K in scholarships to students

with majors in Agricultural Sciences.

We are thankful for our donors as described by
