Notes From Coach Jeremy

Well Team,

Great news: first, I delivered my youngest to college safely, but I’ve missed everyone, and I look forward to being back Monday night. Coaches, thank you for leading the team well! And second… we are kicking off week 3 and you know what that means! You are about to crest the hill which will lead to feeling stronger and more confident if you haven’t already.

So, let’s get to it!!! You’ve been enjoying killer hill, the evil twin, Central Park and the fountain of youth. This week we’ll be introducing Movie hill Monday night, the first tempo repeats at COC, and then a tempo running time trial at Central Park Thursday.

Oh… and don’t forget about the BEACH DAY on Saturday!!! I hope you are planning on it! It is always a great time of training, fun, and hanging out with the team. Bring the whole family!

A few tips as we kick off this week:

  1. Pay attention how sore your muscles and joints are. Sharp pain making you adjust running form is no bueno. If you have sharp pains, come talk to me or a coach and we’ll help make some adjustments.
  2. Stretching a little extra at home will be beneficial as we continue to get more time and speed in the workouts. Calves will be key as when they get tight, they will cause shin splints, Achilles pain, and foot pain. At home you can stretch your calves a few times a day and stay ahead of unwanted tightness! We’ll discuss this tomorrow night.
  3. Keep drinking plenty of water during the day and make sure you eat a granola bar around 4:30 so you have some nutrition in you for practice. As we start ramping up workouts, you are going to need this extra nutrition so get used to it now!

That’s it for now! Have a great Monday, and we’ll see you at 6pm!

Coach Jeremy
