From The Sea Pines CSA Capital Projects Department

Sea Pines Drive Infrastructure Improvement Project Update


Phase 3 of the Sea Pines Drive infrastructure repair project is scheduled to begin next week with an estimated completion time of Spring 2023. To learn more about Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project please click here.

  • Well pointing operations on Red Cardinal Road will begin the week of September 12th, weather permitting. Once complete (5-7 days), drainage installation will begin. Pictured: Roadway patches and depressions on Red Cardinal Road from previous drainage failures.


  • Roadway resurfacing for Sandhill Crane Road is scheduled to begin the week of September 19th, weather permitting. This project work will take 4-6 weeks and will include roadway milling and asphalt paving.



  • Work will be performed Monday - Friday from 7 am - 6 pm. Flag persons will be present to control traffic, as needed.


  • Please observe and obey all traffic management personnel, signage and devices.

Beach Lagoon Pedestrian Timber Bridge Replacement In Progress


The existing wood timber pedestrian bridge located on Beach Lagoon Road (in proximity to Beachwalk 35A) that crosses over the lagoon has exceeded its useful life and must be replaced. Sea Pines CSA contractors began demolition and reconstruction this week.

 

Project work will take approximately 6-8 weeks, weather permitting. During this time, pedestrians will need to use the detour to Beachwalk 35A as the bridge will not be available for use. Click here to view the detour map.

Sea Pines CSA Mosquito Treatment


Our next mosquito treatment will take place on Monday, September 12th during overnight hours, weather permitting.

Stormwater Maintenance

 

Line jetting in various areas around the community will continue the week of September 12th, weather permitting. This process cleans sediment from drainage pipes to improve flow.

Tree Care Management


Tree trimming in various locations around the community will continue through the week of September 12th, weather permitting.

Stormwater Ditch Cleaning

The maintenance and removal of sediment build-up in our stormwater system is important for the conveyance of stormwater from rainfall events. 

Asphalt Repairs


Due to weather delays, asphalt repairs will continue the week of September 12th along the roads listed below, weather permitting. Sea Pines CSA's contractor will have flagmen present to control traffic, as needed.

Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall and Localized Flooding Possible Today Through Saturday

Numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected across southeastern

South Carolina and southeastern Georgia over the next few days. Some of the rainfall will be heavy at times which could lead to localized flooding. In addition,elevated tides cycles are expected through the weekend. If rainfall coincides with high tide, conditions could be exacerbated.


Timing


  • Heavy Rainfall: This afternoon through Saturday



  • Coastal Flooding: Evening high tides through the weekend


Hazards & Impacts


  • Heavy Rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches, with isolated higher amounts, are expected through Saturday. Locally heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas and result in rapid water level rises on small creeks and streams.


  • Coastal Flooding : Minor to moderate coastal flooding is likely along the Charleston and Colleton County coasts with the evening high tides. Minor flooding is possible further south along the southern South Carolina and Georgia coasts. Flooding could be exacerbated if rainfall coincides with high tide.


  • Rip Currents : Enhanced risk of rip currents at area beaches through this weekend.

South Island Public Service District Potable Drinking Water Pipeline Upgrade Project

SIPSD, the utility company providing water and wastewater services in Sea Pines, will undertake a major infrastructure upgrade and replacement project to their potable water drinking line from Dunnagans Alley to Baynard Park Road, inside of Sea Pines. Click here to learn more about the project.

From SCDNR: Report Sightings of Non-native Blue Land Crab

If you live near the South Carolina coast and encounter what looks like an enormous fiddler crab, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) biologists want you to snap a photo. After a spate of recent reports of the blue land crab, SCDNR biologists are asking South Carolinians to help them learn more about where the non-native species is spreading by reporting any sightings.
