Warmer weather is on its way! We have a lot of exciting things in store for the month, including a special musical event for children and a class on raised beds for the gardeners out there.

Elevate Your Gardening: Raise Your Beds

Join Rutgers Master Gardeners Jane Zysk and Debbie LaGattuta as they delve into the world of raised bed gardening. From structure options to garden placement, learn the do's and don'ts that will make your raised bed garden successful! Mermaid Bracelets with Arm Candy

Drop in from 5:00-6:30 pm

 

Drop in between 5:00-6:30 pm when Arm Candy Beading returns to create mermaid bracelets just in time for summer! All supplies will be provided and there is no need to preregister.

Musical Fun with Peas and Carrots

Express yourself with rock painting! Drop in anytime between 3:00 and 4:30 to join Jean in this fun activity. All supplies will be provided. No need to register!


Peacock Surprise!

Saturday, May 21 from 10:30-11:30 am


Enjoy a unique, interactive workshop presented by Seema Moondra of Enjoy Explore India. Discover the art and culture of India through storytelling and design your own piece of peacock artwork! Join us on Zoom for this fun- filled event honoring India’s national bird.

 

Please have crayons, markers, pencil, and paper ready at home to complete the project. Advance registration is required beginning May 7 on the Kids page of the Monmouth County Library website. The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants the day before the event.

Morning Storytime is moving outside! In case of inclement weather, we will move indoors so registration is still required.

Online Storytime
As always, we have lots of fun storytime activities for the kids from the Monmouth County Library. You can find them here!
Take 'N Make Crafts!

We've created "Take 'N Make Craft" kits for our littlest patrons to enjoy! They will be available in the Children's section of the library! Available while supplies last!

New Nature Backpack!

There's so much nature right here in town and in the county so we've created two nature watching backpacks for patrons to borrow! Each backpack includes a pair of kid-friendly binoculars, several nature field guides and a map to local trails. Stop in to check it out!

StoryWalk® at Sickles Park

Visit our StoryWalk® book, "When Spring Comes" by Kevin Henkes at Sickles Park playground! Little Silver Library has collaborated with Little Silver Recreation to bring another StoryWalk® book to our community! StoryWalk® is a way for children to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. 


The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

Non-Fiction/History Book Club
The Non-Fiction/History Book Club will meet at the library on Monday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm. The group will be discussing “Noise: A Flaw in Human Judgement” by Daniel Kahneman. You may contact the library at 732-747-9649 to borrow a copy of the book!
