Inquiry Learning in the Lomond Design Lab

Lomond students have begun a rotation for all grades that encourages inquiry-based learning using the Design Lab. This teaching and learning model, being led by IB Coordinator Shifa Isaacs, not only provides unique learning opportunities for our students, but it also provides opportunities for teachers to learn the new technology tools available in the Design Lab.

The program began two weeks ago with Kindergarten, followed this past week with first grade classes. All classes will be invited into the Design Lab for similar experiences.

Last Chance to Register for Shaker Speaks with Hilary Beard

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 7 pm ET, Hilary Beard, Class of 1980, will lead an eye-opening and interactive discussion about the rise - and burning - of “Black Wall Street.”

“Last year, 100 years after it happened, much of America learned the suppressed history of the Tulsa Race Massacre for the very first time,” says Hilary. “But how did Black Wall Street become so prosperous in the first place? We will discuss Black brilliance and resilience in the face of White supremacy and how Black people historically achieve against unimaginable odds.”

The event takes place via Zoom; tickets are $20 per household, with the proceeds benefiting the Educational Equity Fund managed by the Shaker Schools Foundation. Anyone may attend!
