if you attempt to make a dramatic significant change in your life, it can be too much, so I'd always recommend small steps. By taking small steps, it's possible to shift your approach and your perspective so that, what were once irritating resistances, become pointers for the future.
A colleague once gave me some great advice. Just do three things every day for five days towards a goal, they don't have to be big things. It could be a phone call, researching on the web, or even putting together a list. By the end of the five days, you will have done 15 things towards manifesting your goal. 
My advice is keeping it simple. If you're looking to make a change, then consistency is key too. Whatever routines you put in place, make sure you practice them daily, keeping them consistent. Don't set lofty goals for change you know you're never going to achieve.
