A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT DEBBY CANTER

“Purpose is the most powerful motivator in the world. The secret of passion truly is purpose.”

-Robin Sharma

I don’t know about you, but I think summer flew by too quickly! It’s time to plan for the Executive Board Meeting, chapter meetings, committee meetings, and State Convention. The Admin Team has already met to help guide us through the year.

Several months ago, I booked the venue for the Executive Board Meeting to be held October 22, 2022. I checked the OSU Football Schedule and there wasn’t a game being played that day. Since then, the schedule has been changed and there is a home game that day. The good news is we are meeting in Grove City. The reservation form is included in this issue and can be found on the website.  All chapter presidents, past state presidents, state officers and personnel are members of the Executive Board and expected to attend. There is no charge for board members, but a reservation form needs to be submitted.  Other members are welcome to attend at a minimal cost.  If your chapter has co-presidents, both may attend with one paid reservation.

After receiving so many emails this past year, I’m asking that you put your chapter name in the subject line when sending chapter yearbooks/program books and newsletters. For example: Delta Epsilon Yearbook 22-23 and Delta Epsilon September 22 Newsletter. I’m sure this would be helpful to First Vice President Melodie McGee and Editor Cathy Tenney also. Please make sure you check the yearbook guidelines on the website before sending them.

Please remember to send Form 6 Report the Death of a Member in a timely manner so a condolence may be sent to the family. A current form (08/2022) can be found on the DKG website as well as the OSO website. Send copies to the following:

*Membership Services Email: mem@dkg.org

*State Organization Treasurer: treasurer@dkgohio.org

*State Organization Membership Chair: first.vp@dkgohio.org

If you would like to schedule a chapter visit, please use the form on the website and I will do my best to accoundate your request. I will have to say that these visits are my favorite part of being your state president!

GIVE ME A "D" FOR DONATE LIFE!

Transplants are one of the most remarkable success stories in the history of medicine. The need for organ, eye, and tissue donations continues to grow. One donor has the potential to save 8 lives and help countless others live a better life.

Your chapter can help by reaching out to the Donate Ohio Life Organ Procurement Organizations in your area using the map on the OSO website. Work with your area representative to schedule a virtual or in- person presentation to clear up donation myths, hear miracle stories, and learn ways to become a donor. Follow up with a membership registration drive via online, at the Bureau of Motor Vehicle, or by mail.

Remember, you have the power to give someone a second chance at life!

OSO is proud to partner with Girls ROX.

Chapter News From Around Ohio

Alpha Psi's Successful Garage Sale

Alpha Psi Chapter members had their annual garage sale on the first Saturday after the 4th of July. Members supplied items for the sale, worked to set it up, manned the two day event, helped with clean-up, or transported unsold items to community agencies in need. The sale in the Zanesville area is becoming well-known with many looking forward to the event yearly. This summer Alpha Psi raised $2,747.50; the largest amount brought in to-date! Money earned is earmarked for scholarships given out each year to local education students. The key to this event is to price large ticket items only, while posting suggested prices, and accepting all monetary donations. There was something for everyone.

Akron's Gamma Lambda Chapter's summer outing on July 8 was to The Dragonfly Tearoom in Canal Fulton to celebrate Claudia Grimes' retirement. Members attending to were Becky Thomas, Mary Jo MacCracken, Cindy Acklin, June Smith, Claudia Grimes, and Ginny Snyder.

Gamma Xi members headed to Lebanon, Ohio this summer for a tour of the Glendower Mansion, which was built around 1845 and is noted as one of the finest examples of Residential Greek Revival architecture style in the Midwest. Following the tour Gamma Xi had lunch at the Golden Lamb. Pictured are Judy, Lisa, Mary Angela, Ellen, Joyce, Maureen, Gabrielle, Kathy, Julie, Julie's sister, Jetta, Ann, Sylvia, Martha and Gail.
