Pastor's Message

Fall Registrations are OPEN!!!

People of Grace,

I am so excited to share that Fall Registrations are open for a number of our faith formation offerings at Grace! There are a number of new opportunities as well! I hope you received your Grace Notes Newsletter in the mail (you can also pick one up at church if you aren't yet on our mailing list).

Our hope for faith formation at Grace is that there is something for everyone to learn and grow in their faith. Whether you are participating as a student or leading as a volunteer, we pray through our programming that all will grow in their relationship with God! We also hope that our children and youth are integrated into groups of adults and visa versa. Intergenerational relationships are integral to my understanding of faith. My perspective has been changed learning from the youngest in our congregation, and my eyes have been opened by our senior learners as well. Those of you who are registering your children will notice some changes especially to Sunday School. We are asking that parents or guardians volunteer in Sunday School. We know parents are the number one teachers of life and of everything and we want you to feel like you have the tools to do this well! By joining in Sunday School twice a year you will know what your kids are learning and we hope integrate faith at home! This also allows our kids to have and know many adults who care for them and give them examples of what a life of faith looks like!

There is a place for you to learn and grow in faith at Grace. Check out a few of the registrations below and if you don't see something for you, stop by or give me a call and we will find something that will work for you! Adult offerings don't require registrations but know that we have faith formation opportunities for you too! And if you would like to volunteer with our Children or Youth we have two informational and training sessions: Sunday, August 27th 12-2pm or August 30th 6-8pm. You need only attend one. Lastly, we want to keep everyone safe, our children and our adults! Everyone working in Children, Youth, and family ministries needs an active background check and to attend a training.

Blessings,

Pastor Maria Markman

Grace Musical Ensembles Rehearsals Are Starting!

We are nearing the start of our program year and getting ready to start our ensemble rehearsals. Our Grace Symphonic Ensemble is up and running already. Rehearsals for this group are on Sunday mornings from 9:45am-10:15am in the portable. For more information on this group, contact Joe Jackson.

Our Choir and Praise Team are also getting ready to resume their weekly rehearsals. Both groups will gather on Tuesday evenings starting August 29th. The schedule is as follows:

  • 6:00pm-7:00pm: Praise Team Rehearsal.
  • 7:15-8:30pm - Grace Choir Rehearsal. (The Grace Choir schedule for the year is posted on the website. You can find it by clicking HERE. If you see a song you'd like to sing, join us for the two weeks leading up to that Sunday and join in the song!)

All of our ensembles are open to anyone and everyone at any time. It is not a year-long commitment, but you may want to come back once you make music together!

If you have any questions about the Choir or Praise Team, contact David Phelps

Thursday Evenings at The Draw Amphitheater:

  • August 17th-Mick Sterling Presents: A Billy Joel State of Mind-Tribute to Billy Joel

Empty Nesters/Parents of Independent Children

We are a fun and welcoming social group that enjoys getting together for food and beverages and conversation. Our next event will be on Monday, August 21st – starting at 6 pm at Forgotten Star Brewing in Fridley

You may not be able to join us right at 6 pm but don’t let that stop you! Our start times are flexible; arrive when you can! If you have any questions, feel free to email, text or call Nancy Jenkins.

Family Table

THIS Sunday, August 20th at 11:30am-12:30pm, we are privileged to prepare a variety of delicious meals for our guests, many of whom have been affected by the risings costs in food and gas and truly appreciate the meals we provide. If you are looking for a fun way to volunteer and great people to work with, please check out the Sign-up Genius link. The calendar is posted thru December 2023 so you can do some planning. Positions fill quickly sometimes, so sign up as soon as you can! Also, if you know of someone who could benefit from our program, please let them know! If you have any questions, you can contact Lynda Wilde at lrwilde@comcast.net or call/text 612.418.6444.

Love Of Grace Bazaar Cancellation

The Bazaar Team is very sad to announce that the Love of Grace Bazaar scheduled to be on November 11, 2023 is being cancelled for this year. Due areas being under construction will limit our areas to use for the Bazaar, we know shifting of construction areas will be taking place to make it hard to plan spaces, and most importantly the safety overall for everyone. Love of Grace Bazaar for 2024 will be on the second Saturday in November - November 9, 2024

Grace's Opportunities for Giving

SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR SAND CREEK ELEMENTARY!

ENDS SEPT. 4th

School supplies are always in need each year and so appreciated by the students and teachers! If you would like to help, please consider purchasing any of the items in the list below and return them to church in the tote labeled “Sand Creek School Supplies” that will be located in the Narthex. The donations will be accepted through September 4th. Thank you for your support!

You can also give a monetary donation of cash or check. If writing a check, please make it payable to Grace Lutheran Church and write “Sand Creek” in the memo line. The monetary donations will be used by the Sand Creek Grace Team toward the food expenses for the Sharing Grace Backpack Food Bags prepared and given each Friday to children who would otherwise go hungry over the weekend.
