Good evening Menendez Community,
Welcome back families! We had a great first two days back at school. Students seemed to be glad to be back on campus. I had the opportunity to engage with a number of students and they were all incredible individuals. We are still registering students now and inasmuch, we are working to level our class sizes. Therefore, student grades will begin to be input on August 18th.
Tomorrow we will be reviewing expectations for all of our students. Expectation assemblies will take place by grade level and we will be discussing what students can do to be successful at PMHS this school year. This will include being in class on time, appropriate technology usage (cell phones are not to be utilized during class time), appropriate usage of unstructured time (lunch and class change) and a number of other activities. We will post a presentation on the website once we finish assemblies. Furthermore, please see the flyer below regarding digital IDs. These will be utilized this year for students in the media center, cafeteria, checking in and out and other school events. If your child does not have a cell phone, we do have alternative options.
This week we also have some other activities. Each week will will post these on the website under the section titled "Upcoming Events". For instance, teachers will be posting welcome back messages this Friday, August 18th at 4:00pm for our Online Open House.
Many of our fall athletics programs have begun. We are very excited to see the progress of our football, volleyball and other programs in the fall. We will be posting schedules on the PMHS website as they are finalized.
Speaking of our website, we are working to update and upgrade our website. Please be patient as we make updates over the coming two weeks.
We are still seeking to fill one teacher position of ESE teacher. If you are interested, please visit the PMHS website and click on "Job Vacancies".
As the year progresses, the message will fill with information for our students, parents and our community. Please make sure to subscribe to The Menendez Message at the link below.
We look forward to unlocking the potential of each student and Menendez High School this coming school year. RISE UP FALCONS!
Respectfully,
Ted Banton
