Dear Rondout Families, Friends and Faculty,

Happy Friday… Hoping you all have a great weekend. After this week’s weather and power outages, everyone is ready for some relaxation and recharging. The sunshine this weekend will be a nice change.

Unfortunately 100% chance of rain is in the forecast for Monday which has caused a change in our plans. Our 4th through 8th grade students will not be able to participate in brush cutting to remove buckthorn in the Rondout Nature Preserve on Monday. March 10th is our rain date so we will be keeping our fingers crossed for a dry weather day. We will follow up with reminders the week before the activity.

Looking forward to seeing many of our families next Saturday March 4th for our Family Day of Service. Please check out Ms. Davis’s posting below for more details regarding this morning of fun and service.

I am heading off to “snowy” California for the weekend  to celebrate my uncle’s 99th birthday. Have a wonderful weekend.

Until next time... Take care...

Dear Rondout Families and Staff,

We are eagerly looking forward to our Family Day of Service on March 4th from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm. Our service day will center around helping our favorite furry pets. Representatives from Orphans of the Storm will be present that day as we make enrichment treats for their dogs, blankets for kennels and other activities to support our local animal shelters.

In preparation for our pet themed activities, we are asking for donations of the following items.

Dry Dog food

Pumpkin puree

Xylitol-free yogurt

Small dog biscuits

Graham crackers

If you are able to donate any of these items, please let us know by emailing Elizabeth.davis@rondoutsd72.org.

In addition, we will accept all donations of cardboard tubes (ex: toilet paper tubes) and Newspapers throughout the week of 2/27. Please send any donations to the main office.

If your family plans to join us on March 4, please respond to our RSVP so that we can plan appropriately for our volunteers.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our day of service!

Thank you,

Elizabeth Davis

Principal

Special Seniors Day Returns to Rondout!

Mark your calendars for Friday, April 28th!

For one day each spring, the population at Rondout doubles. That day, we open the doors and welcome special guests for Special Seniors Day, an event that recognizes and celebrates the special relationships and interactions between generations, and the desire for multigenerational interaction as part of our children’s education. The goal of the program is to give students a chance to bond with their special guest at school.

The event is a collaboration between the PTSA and teachers, school administration, and the community. Proud grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents and family friends have flown in from as far away as Los Angeles. Parents play a critical role in Special Senior’s Day (see below).  Because of this, parents are encouraged to find someone other than themselves, but if they want to be special guests, that’s OK.

RSVP Early!

We want to personalize this event as much as possible!  To do that, we need to capture the names of each Special Guest visiting Rondout.  There are 2 ways you can RSVP:

  • Electronically, through an e-invitation - Invitations were emailed to Rondout families on Friday, February 17th. In case the invite went to your spam, here is the URL: https://www.punchbowl.com/parties/7232fd1b275fed322817
  • Paper RSVP, via Backpack Mail - Fill out the RSVP form attached to the Falcon Flyer and send it to school in your child’s backpack.

Parents/Volunteers Needed!

This is a shout out to all Rondout parents, nannies and friends who could spare an hour of their day on Friday, April 28th.  We need help in all areas/aspects of this event. There is something for everyone to contribute on Special Seniors Day. Volunteer now by clicking below.
