News from the City

Did you know that the newsletter is only one way to stay engaged and informed with what's going on in your community. I take the transparency of this administration very seriously. That is why we stream our Board of Alderman meetings live on You Tube. You can watch them in real time or go back and watch them at your leisure. You are welcome to attend in person any time you would like. You can also follow myself or the City of Ozark on Facebook to get updates throughout the month. My goal is to give you opportunities to know all that we are doing here in Ozark. Your local government is doing everything we can to make Ozark better every day and we want you there to help us make it happen. If you would like to know more about your local government, please feel free to contact me anytime at mayorjackson@ozarkmissouri.org or 417-860-9541.

Don't forget to attend the meeting with the Mayor, on the second Saturday of every month at The Ozark Community Center at 1530 W. Jackson St.

The Meeting is in a  discussion type format and starts at 9 am, light refreshments are provided.

We look forward to seeing you.

Neal & Betty Grubaugh Park

NEW Inclusive Playground

Welcome to the FIRST Inclusive Playground in Christian County.

"The City of Ozark is known for its beautiful green spaces, and the Neal and Betty Grubaugh Park is no exception. We are excited to provide the disc golf course, public pool, and now this new inclusive playground. I want to thank our parks and recreation team, public works, and planning departments for their hard work and dedication. Careful consideration went into each part of this playground, from the flooring and accessible entry to the Inclusive activities such as the new Orbit (gesture to the playground). Our goal was to provide a space where all residents feel welcome and have access to play and build relationships. I believe that goal was accomplished. We all worked hard as a team to bring this fantastic asset to our community, where everyone feels included. We could not have done this alone; I would like to say a special thank you to CC Links, Kiwanis, Lions Club of Ozark, Utopia Club, Cosmopolitan Club, 4C Sertoma, Mo-Yak Fishing, and Impact 100 Ozark, who has partnered with us to help us make this dream into a reality. It is because of all the help from our sponsors and support from our community generations of children of all abilities will be able to play and make lasting friendships here. "

- Samantha Payne,

Deputy City Administrator

Ozark Fire Protection District

The Ozark Fire Protection District is presently working to improve the district. The passing of the 2021 General Obligation Bond has allowed us to complete many projects. The district recently accepted delivery of an aerial truck that is being outfitted and personnel are being trained for introduction to service later this year. We are also pushing forward with the remodel of Station #3 located at 4545 S. Hwy W. This project should see major results in the coming months.

The Ozark Fire Protection District is pleased to announce the promotion of several individuals. Firefighter Camren Qualls was promoted to Engineer, Engineer Christopher Winking was promoted to Captain, Captain Jeff Owens was promoted to Assistant Chief, and Battalion Chief Aaron Heaton was promoted to Assistant Chief. These members hard work and dedication are a true testament to our commitment to the citizens of the district.

As always, we encourage our citizens to be safe during this summer season. The recent shortage of rain provides for ample fire conditions. Please ensure you obtain the proper permitting for your burn, call before you light, and ensure an adequate water source is available for quick extinguishment. When in doubt, call your local fire district headquarters and ask. Ozark Fire protection District HQ (417)581-4436

Respectfully;

Aaron S. Heaton

Christian County News

Christian County announces new center of government operations befitting our first-class county

The center of Christian County government operations has been located on the historic square in downtown Ozark for more than a century. According to an abstract of the twelfth census of the United States, the population of Christian County in 1900 was 16,939 persons. The most recent census taken in 2020 lists a population of 88,842 and suggests a continued increase to more than 105,000 county residents by 2030.

We are looking forward to working with our local communities and with our economic development organization, Show Me Christian County, to highlight the excellent opportunities to come for further development in our county,”  Ralph Phillips, Christian County Presiding Commissioner said.

Find out more information about the project on the Christian County website at https://www.christiancountymo.gov/.
