Weekly eNews

Dear St. Giles Families,

These past two days we have had beautiful celebrations in our community.

Friday we welcomed over 230 Grandparents back on campus and it was an incredible day to celebrate all we do here at St. Giles. A very special thank you to Kelly Richard for all of her hard work making sure we had all Grandparents’, in person, live streamed and those in our hearts in heaven represented. Our Lions filled the sidewalks with welcome messages and teachers shared activities in the classrooms–it was a wonderful high energy day!

Saturday we welcomed our 2nd graders into the church as they celebrated their First Communion. Both masses were beautiful and the sun came out to shine upon them! Both days were reminiscent of pre-pandemic times and what we look forward to as our gatherings continue.
Strategic Plan
As you know, we've partnered with the Silver Lining Learning team as we undertake the process of developing the school’s next strategic plan! Both St. Giles School and Silver Lining Learning believe that the best strategic planning process involves interactions between all school community members. With that in mind, we hope you can join us for a parent focus group at one of the times listed below. As we look to garner feedback from our wonderful parent community, we have both in person and virtual opportunities for you to provide feedback for our process. Times and locations are:

  • 5/9 8:15AM, Parish Center Living Room (enter through the Parish Center)
  • 5/17 8:15AM, McDonough Hall
  • 5/17 6:30PM, Parish Center Living Room
  • 5/18 6:30PM, Zoom, link to be shared in future eNews

Lenten Service Project
Many thanks to all who contributed to the Lenten Service Project in support of Housing Forward! Between St. Giles religious education, St. Giles school and Ascension religious education, we collected just over $11,000!!! That will assist five families to have a home. Together we have made a difference.
This week we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! There are surprises in store for our teachers each day and we are grateful to PTO and all of our parents for all that you do for us. For all of our St. Giles parents who are also teachers, we appreciate you!!

Stay safe and well,
Meg

COVID Update
While there has been an increase in COVID cases in the area, we have only had 2 reported cases this past week. As a reminder, if your child is experiencing any symptoms, especially during this difficult allergy season, home testing is recommended just to be safe. We know colds and flu are also going around and appreciate your understanding as we enter these last weeks of school and hope to keep everyone healthy.

St. Giles School Shadow Day

Prospective students in grades 3-6 are invited to experience the life of a Lion on Friday, May 6. Many local families consider St. Giles for their child's middle school experience because of our character development, academic rigor, high expectations and school leadership. If you know of a family who may be considering a St. Giles educationa Shadow Day is a great opportunity for their students to see for themselves what our school offers. Student shadows will participate in all classroom activities and scheduled specials for the day. For questions and to register for either date, please reach out to the school office at office@stgilesschool.org. We hope to see a future Lion you know in our halls soon!
Thank you for a great year of enrichment. We are so excited that we were able to return to in person enrichment programming this year. Whether or not your children participated in enrichment programs this year, please complete this quick survey that includes areas for suggested future programs that will help us plan for next year. Thank you!
